Exactly...in the long run weed just makes you chill.

You obviously haven't met any hardcore potheads. Weed doesn't have the same devastating long-term effects as alcohol abuse, but I know/used to know a few guys who really got into smoking pot and... yeah, I guess they did chill. They chilled so much that pretty much the only thing they still care about is smoking more pot.
