Slate Drums Terry Date Expansion

would be awesome to get more insight from steven what it was like watching terry engineer the session. was cool to see some of terry's preferences in that video regarding mic choice/position. noticed he favoured coated heads on every drum.

what did he do different to what you have tended to do on your own samples steve?

This is exactly what the doctor ordered! I was hoping for something like this. Gonna get this in about 8 days or so. How long is it going to be $99? I read that it's for a month on another forum, but I can't remember who posted that.

Working with Terry on this pack was absolutely surreal. Terry was and still is a huge influence on me, and his drums especially connected with me when I was a young engineer.

His techniques are very unique to him, and they are indeed different from my own in a cool way. Terry's drums are tight on bottom and have a ton of mid PUNCH. He just has that magic signature sound. A lot of my own drum sounds are known for having more extreme bottom and top.. it's pretty different sounding than Terry's thing but it works too. To get that tight kick punch, Terry likes to take the front head off as you can see in the video. Most of my samples keep the front head on for that deep low resonance and booooom.

You should try experimenting by combining some of Terry's super cracky snares with some of my deeper fat snares in SSD/TRIGGER. It's a lot of fun! You can get really 'mad scientist' with all these great sounds.. it's kind of addictive.. well.. to me at least.

Cheers,
Steven

Wow. Impressive.

How much disk space do the Terry Date and CLA expansions need? I can't find this info on the website...

Sounds very good, very impressed. Well done all.

Very tempted to get this, although I promised I'd wait until BFD3 before buying anymore drum samples.

God damnit, Slate. I don't need this right now. I just laid much money on an Axe-Fx, I don't need to spend money on other stuff now. But these sound too good! Why are you doing this to me? ): That snare is... It's... Magic! ARGH. THE UNIVERSE IS TESTING ME. You didn't need to do this, I was planning on throwing you another 100 dollars for the trigger plugin anyway. ):

Well, I guess it's a buy. Anyone know how long the discount will last?

Bought the SSD+trigger pack goddammit! I hate you Slate! I don't even use samples all that much anymore. I was so proud to resist the urge of buying the buss comps... :bah:

Any info about the kits pieces and sizes? how many toms?
a little more info in the website would be cool apart from "10 kits"

im liking the kicks/toms a lot but im not really a fan of that kind of snare sound

There's one set of four toms, nine kicks, seven snares, one hat, one ride, four crashes and one china.
