I flew down to San Diego for my spring break to visit my friend and one of the things we did was she drove me to see the Rust in Peace 20th Anniversary tour final date in LA (I doubt our trip to the zoo or a San Diego college is as interesting this story haha). The following is a recap of how amazing the show was; I don't care if you like thrash/don't like thrash/ love these bands/hate these bands but theres no way you'll want to miss it if the summer tour is anything like this (almost same lineup so probably pretty similar). And so it begins...

My friend and I arrived at the show and I was really hoping it'd be a super intense show because she's not really into metal; I didn't want her to be just bored sitting around doing nothing since she was nice enough to let me stay at her apartment the week and go with me to the show. Luckily, the show was a more insane production than I could've ever possibly imagined.

We got there and this was the first thing we saw:

In case you're not aware, the Hollywood Palladium holds 4,000 people. Yes, 4,000 yelling, drinking, swearing metalheads, it was pretty intense. So we circle the block thinking we're going to find the end and the line literally GOES AROUND THE ENTIRE FUCKING BLOCK! Not only that but I had no idea that once we got to the entrance I heard security shouting about a video shooting and all that sort of stuff so I checked the signs and what are the chances; they were filming the show that night! I've never been to a dvd shoot, especially one this big so I was really excited to be a part of a moment in history (I can't wait until the dvd comes out to see if I can see myself fucking shit up haha, more on that later). We wait in the line for a longgg time (at least an hour) and luckily even though the ticket said doors at 6 show at 6 Exodus didn't start until we got inside and I heard the intro they're using for Bonded By Blood. I went into the pit while she waited up near one of the bars (the pits were a bit scary and since it was her first big metal show I'm not sure she wanted to go in with me, maybe next time though haha; I didn't pit for all of Exodus and hung out with her during that time and Testament which is good because she said there were a bunchhh of creepers whenever I left haha, I feel sorry for all you girls that have to put up with that if you do) and had a blast due to how intense it was and how much aggression and energy Exodus were putting off. The setlist could've been better because it's not what they had been playing before but still a good setlist (not completely in order but mostly):
1. Bonded By Blood
2. Iconoclasm
3. Fabulous Disaster (YES!!!!! :kickass:)
4. A Lesson In Violence
5. War Is My Shepard
6. Blacklist
7. Toxic Waltz
8. Strike Of The Beast
All in all I really enjoyed Exodus; the only downfall was on other shows they had been playing last act of defiance and braindead which I would've loveddd to see instead of the same bonded by blood and tempo of the damned songs they play every time.

Testament was up next and while I'm into Testament, I wasn't feeling it as much and just chilled with my friend mostly. The setlist was pretty obvious as they basically announced it. It was all of The Legacy and then DNR and 3 Days in Darkness from The Gathering (which of course I had to go pit for because I love the Gathering and those songs are heavy as shit). During their set I went to look for a reunion tour t shirt but they sold completely out of the only good ones (people took forever standing at the front of the line deciding what they wanted, fucking annoying as hell) In the end I didn't get anything but with the dvd and memories I'm quite sure I don't need to pay $35 for a t shirt.

Finally the moment everyone had been waiting for had come. Megadeth set up. It took a while which was making my friend and I uneasy because she had class the next day (we actually had to pull over for a while in some parking lot off the freeway after the show while she slept for 30 minutes and I made sure we didn't get attacked or something because the parkinglot was really eerie and lights would come on our of nowhere with no one around; she was so tired though I'm pretty sure if we kept driving I wouldn't be typing this report) but in the end it was absolutely worth it. Onto the final report.

Megadeth came out with the Rust In Peace era backdrop exactly (I have some bootlegs from that era so I noticed it immediately besides just the cover) and played their intro tape about a military or totalitarian state that they used on the Rust In Peace tour too and the crowd went wild. They came out and blasted through a great set, not a bunch of worthless talking either; They knew why we were there. Here's the set:
1. Skin O My Teeth
2. In My Darkest Hour
3. All of Rust in Peace
4. Trust
5. Symphony Of Destrction
6. A song off Endgame, The Right To Go Insane I think?
7. Headcrusher
8. Peace Sells (seeing Dave rock out on Bass to this was an amazing feeling)
9. Holy Wars Reprisal (basically starting again from the super fast part towards the end to close the show out)

The entire set was a blast, there were at least 3 or 4 pits all going crazy and I just ripped off my shirt, stuck it in my belt loop and moshed the entire set (I was surprised I made it haha, pretty intense workout but the no shirt thing actually helped a lot and made it so the car ride back wasn't gross wearing a sweaty shirt, I might do this from now on and don't worry, I may not be a calvin klein model but I definitely am fairly cut and muscular and not just a fat jiggling sweaty blob haha). There were a couple of retarded douchebag fights but that's to be expected. After a while I noticed how there were multiple pits so I tried to combine them and to my surprise I actually helped combine the pits haha! instead of just being 4 random ones I turned them into 2 big ones! Honestly everyone was spot on; Dave's vocals sounded great, Dave Ellefson was a solid machine on the bass, Chris was shredding it out with ease and the drums kept the beat; definitely a tight unit.

I can't stress enough how great this show was and hopefully they do something like it on the rescheduled dates. Seriously don't miss this; it may seem cliche but this tour is pretty damn historic, especially if you didn't get a chance to catch the Rust In Peace tour back in 1990 or 1991.

Already booked tickets for AC/DC,Slayer,Megadeth, Heaven and Hell , Anthrax , Manowar (wont even bother to see them) Metallica , Rammstein and some other bands , all these in only 2 days :D

the slayer part is this summer, I can't see shows in the future haha. this one was megadeth/testament/exodus so it's going to be close to the same show just with slayer added.

TOMORROW!

Sunday, 8/15 @ Susquehanna Bank Center in Camden, NJ

Slayer / Megadeth w. Testament!

The rescheduled show from February.

Just landed me some tickets. Anyone else attending?

Going just to see Testament again. Couldn't care less about the other two.

Just kidding, I don't like them on album but I have no doubt Slayer and Megadeth will own live.

I keep forgetting this leg of the tour is coming up since it's been pushed back so much haha, I have my ticket and the venue is really really close to me so it should be cool plus the setlists are unique and I can never pass up a chance to see megadeth.

Oh, and any word on the Slayer setlist?

I'm guessing that Slayer and Megadeth will be switching on who goes on last but, when I saw them, Slayer closed the show.

Slayer's setlist:
World Painted Blood
Hate Worldwide (might have them reversed)
Entire "Season's" album
South Of Heaven
Raining Blood
Angel Of Death

Both Slayer and Megadeth get 70 minutes each, Testament gets 40.
