There is an sm86 going cheap locally and I am tempted to get it.
Has anyone here used one for studio work ?
I am not a fan of LDCs even though I have a Neumann tlm103 and access to loads of vintage LDCs in the studio where I teach.
I always find myself cutting a lot of lows and low mids and boosting high mids.
The sm86 looks like it is "pre-EQed" for what I usually go for.
I have been using Beyer m201 for vocals mainly lately.
Looks like the freq response might be good for guitar cab too.
I know you can't really tell anything from charts so that's shy I am asking if anyone has used one.
