huge improvement, thanks for all the pictures too! the only thing i noticed that could be improved is that there's not much low end in the snare, especially compared to the toms. did you flip the phase of the bottom snare mic?

I have the same issue when I skim the snare mic across the batter head like you have there. Try getting it up higher and pointing more downward toward the snare and you will get more body, at the expense of attack.

Either that or +9dB at 150Hz. CLA ftw.

Sounds great Ryan, as I told you on AIM.

As for the hat mic position... I use a similar position quite often now and all you have to do is high-pass it and it's fine... However, pointed directly at the opening is a little strange to me, I have a LDC pointed at it but angled about 45 degrees so the diaphragm is not pointed directly at the opening.

notice how the tom mics peek over the rim of the drum, whereas the snare mic is just sitting on top of the rim. the top snare mic is where you'll get the full body of the snare drum. i think if you get another mic stand, you'll be able to find the right position.

Really? I've been struggling with too much low-end and not enough attack. This may help a lot
