So uhh... Manowar

EPIC feedback as opposed to just ordinary ol' feedback? :tickled:

Yeah, it's not a big deal. I'm just saying that the Arch Enemy cover version of the song is infinitely better.

From Blabbermouth:

At last weekend's (July 6-7) Magic Circle Festival in Bad Arolsen, Germany, bassist Joey DeMaio of MANOWAR — who organized the event — reportedly announced that the festival will be held annually from now on. On the first day of next year's gathering, MANOWAR will sign as much stuff as they can and will give away "thousands" of free beers and copies of their new single as well as four custom-built chopper bikes, each belonging to one of the bandmembers. On top of that, MANOWAR will apparently play their first six albums in their entirety, from "Battle Hymns" to "Kings of Metal".

Let me ask...on occasion, it appears that there exists a circle of Manowar fans who listen to Manowar and nothing else.

Can anyone verify?

It's not like they're metal heads who happen to think Manowar is their favorite band, I'm talking about folks who only listen to Manowar and dismiss almost all other metal bands.

It's like Manowar have these die-hards who will always show up, but you might not see them at a Maiden fest or Dio concert.

I've read a blog of a Manowar fan who purportedly dedicated his life only to listening to Manowar, traveling to all corners of the earth to see their showsm and having no small amount of Manowar tattoos. He did reference about two or three other such fans as well. I doubt there are more than a few handfuls of such fans around the world, but I think it's safe to say they have their true fanatics.

Edit: Is it me, or is that sort of pyschophantic obsession with a band, with anything, almost inconceivable? I mean, I get bored of anything for too long (might explain my romantic life), but spending years and years dedicating your life to just a band... yeow.

It's more about being into the music etc or just being a regular old fan. I think the Manowar circle is like some family. They probably have a secret handshake, let their male comrades plough their sisters, and drink each other's urine.

By the way, can you think of one other band which has kept its own fanbase, resembling one big happy family?

How about The Grateful Dead?

Oh, I definitely see the parallels. I guess the difference between rabid hippie fans and rabid metal fans though is just a function of the energy of the music. I mean, a Deadhead goes off the deep end, has a bad acid trip, you get stuck with patouli stench on your car. A Manowar fan goes off the deepend, and you got some guy trying to do a drive by jousting and screaming "Hail and Kill!"

Man, I would pay to see that.

By the way, I want everyone to guess here....if Manowar put on this same festival in the USA (let's say, during the summer, somewhere in the middle of the country like NJ), how many folks do you think would show?

Do Manowar recognize their fan base in the USA? Is there a fanbase? It's not even as if promoters are putting them on their festivals....unless Manowar are too expensive?! :zombie:
