I guess I'll talk about my thoughts on thrash finally. I love old thrash, although I don't listen to it nearly as often as I used to. It's not deep music by any means, but who cares? I like a lot of deep music, art, literature, but I don't have a certain requirement concerning music that isn't deep or emotionally involving enough. In fact when it all comes down to it, I just want to rock out with my cock out, which is probably why I listen to so much stoner stuff.
Oh yeah, and thrash singers MUST wear white tennis shoes. That's the only part of the metal uniform that I'll ever enforce.

only singers wtf?? and yeah, while I fucking love to thrash my brains out there would probably be a LOT less thrash albums in my top mega super ever albums-list then most of the other stuff I listen to because while it fucking feels a lot it doesn't run as deep as much other stuff, to put it short

I like thrash and speed metal at times. I use it when I'm tired but need to stay awake because it helps give me energy, i listen to it when i'm working, because I am able to keep a nice steady pace.
But when I want to listen to music I enjoy, i prefer something with more meaning and atmosphere. Either black metal, classic rock or something else.
It all depends upon mood. Thats why I have such a large variety of music, what I listen depends on my mood.
When I worked at the grocery store and would come home after a bad day, nothing hit the spot like 2 certain Slipcannot songs, followed by a session of slayer and Myrkskog, then i'd switch over to some classic rock to unwind.
But thrash/speed.... definetly good for a party involving large volumes of beer.
But when I want to listen to music I enjoy, i prefer something with more meaning and atmosphere. Either black metal, classic rock or something else.

While other types of metal are more intellectually stimulating, thrash metal is appealing on a physical level. It gets my blood pumping and makes me headbang, which for some odd reason feels good. It's a complete release of energy and tension.

Every genre has its time and place. Thrash/Speed metal works in a live setting, drinking beer, driving you car, hanging out with friends. That's the same with traditional metal I suppose. Social music.
On the flipside, I hate listening to deep/emotional music in the presence of others. That is all about headphones, dim lights, laying back and taking it all in. Antisocial music.
