I don't know who I'm supposed to go for, USA or Germany. Cuz like, one is the place I dun be and born, and the other is where the majority of my heritage lies.

I am so con-fu-sed! [/Ricky Retardo]

You have as much ties to Germany as I do to Italy.

You're American, like it or not. I already know which.

Well duh that I'm American, but that doesn't mean I have to love our team.

I mean I've never been to Florida and I hopefully never will, but Miami still houses my favorite NFL team.

Don't sass me boy.

I just think on the grandest of all stages you should support your team. Meaning, the team who will be representing the nation you were born in, live in, and make a living in.

Nothing says you can't also root for another team.

I'm sure JayK will be rooting hard for the U.K., but will also somewhat root for the U.S., provided they're not going against the U.K.

Just sayin'

Alright well I think it's gonna be USA! USA! USA! until if/when they go up against Germany, and then I'm going to ride the fence for as long as I can.

that's pretty much how I do things, except replace Germany with Italy.

Of course the USA & Italy have to play each other in the qualifying round, so... :erk:

man, ive been so out of soccer for so long i dont even know who is on the USA team anymore. i keep thinking it's 1990! some of those players are dead now.

Actually, the world cup starts june 9th. I'm in the same boat as you gugs with u.s and italy, it would be nice if they both advanced (in which case one of them would have to play brazil in the next round i believe

yeah, I just saw that, June, jeez!

Our best hope is to tie with Italy :D

And by some miracle defeat the Czech Republic and also beat Ghana. Though I suppose they could lose to the Czechs, beat Ghana and tie Italy to advance.

England man, it's England. :tickled:

And yeah, second team is USA (even over any other UK countries, of which none qualified anyway, heh).

Then of course there are the teams that I would like to see lose: Germany or Argentina.

If the US tie with Italy, it'll be almost as shocking as when the US beat Portugal in their opening game last world cup. The fact is, anything is possible.

Here's the thing about the world cup: EVERYONE has a fighting chance. I've seen so many "shock defeats" over the years, like when Cameroon beat Argentina in 1990.

In some respects. Then again, Portugal always fucking choke, and Italy are much more reliable. Of course, they weren't last time around, which in some ways is worse. They'll be looking to make sure they don't get humiliated twice. I'll tell you, I'm at least as worried about the Czech Republic game--those fuckers are good. Still, although it's a murderous group, the US still has a chance. I agree, there aren't any sure things in international soccer anymore.

And yes, I'll be rooting along with you for Germany's exit. Not an Italy fan either. I like Argentina though. England is the team I pull for most, unless their success effects the US team.
