I thought that this might be interesting to post, so...

Solo A - http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3163522/Sinister Haven solo A.mp3

Solo B - http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3163522/Sinister Haven solo B.mp3

Solo C - http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3163522/Sinister Haven solo C.mp3

Vote which solo you think fits the song best :D

One of these solos is by a certain member of this forum, one of them is by my bands actual lead guitarist, and one of them is by a secret guest who will be revealed in due time :heh:

These are all MP3 samples though, and some of them haven't been "mastered" so turn 'em up!

Vote on how well the solo fits the song, the technique is obviously important, but its how well it goes with the song thats most important \m/

Also, post any comments or thoughts, my bands lead guitarist would love to have some criticisms and comments from the big guns of this forum, me and him both worship the Murph :D

EDIT - remember, this isn't a tone test, this is purely for how well the solo works and fits in with the song

Solo C is definitely my favourite. For fun I'm guessing thats your Sneapster.

B sounds like your lead guitarist?

A is you?

C - but all of them were kinda long. I'd cut the solo section shorter

All will be revealed soon about who is playing what one, but I agree that two of the solos go on a bit long, I don't think that solo A drags on too much though, but thats just my opinion :D

Well I suppose its time to reveal who played what :D

Solo A is my actual lead guitarist

Solo B is my dad, he recorded it quickly the other day just for fun

Solo C is our sneapster! Decimator kindly recorded a sick ass solo on this song \m/

i somehow like A
C sounds more professional, but A has something that C hasn't
it sounds imperfect in a good way
reminds me a bit of oldschool stuff like suffocation or death

and i really don't like B

I forgot to mention, sorry about hearing this dude, hopefully your results should bring you good news :kickass:

Thanks! The results were good, no rheumatism. However, the test is not 100% accurate. I think I need to treat this as a repetitive strain injury for now. The problem is that the meds the doc gave are only masking the pain. Once the effect wears out the same pain is back :( After a week I'm going to see the doc again.

Thanks for all the voters!

Solo A: Too much notes outside the scale. With this kind of backing you can get away with a lot of chromatic runs, but I think it is better to use those "outside" notes to approach diatonic notes.

Solo B: Thats one crazy solo :D

My lead guitarist wanted to have a odd sound instead of using regular scales and patterns, it kind of worked but its not to everyone's taste :D I'm pleased that someone preferred this one though, as its the one me and my mate wrote xD

If its a RSI injury the best thing to do is to stop playing, I had to stop playing for a whole year when I first got RSI :Puke:
