I suppose I have to reserve judgement on the entire album until I've heard it all...BUT:
When I heard a few tracks of the forthcoming Load and ReLoad albums, I was intrigued...they had a different style that everyone said was shit...but there was still something good there, I thought. However, I've heard Frantic and St Anger (possibly not even a great cross-section of album tracks...I dunno) and I thinkl they're shit. In fact, I think they're so shit I'm absolutely astounded. I don't know whether to be more amazed that anyone can listen to this shit or that Metallica can still walk around thinking they're something. I wouldn't have written shit like those tracks in high-school...a place, incidentally where I'm sure they were writing far far more listenable and enjoyable music.
So...unless something spectacular happens I am now writing Metallica off. Heh heh...coz no-one needs to hear me rant about the next crapshoot record they're gonna make millions from.
