St. Anger Keepers.

I'm still yet to give St. Anger a decent listen as I've only heard it through my mates copy. I still think it's the best thing they've done since ...And Justice but still falls way short of those far superior efforts. The Dvd sounds way better than the cd I thought. The drums are so fucked. Mainly that snare sound, and the guitars just seemed to thin on the proper disc. I think the next cd could be the teller though. If Rob remains in the band and is able to contribute to the writing process for it. And I hope the spend a little time on creating some decent tracksinstead of entering the studio and cutting an album off the the top of their heads. All in al, not a bad effort from Metallica. I was hoping for alot more, and expecting alot worse.

I agree with what you are saying here. While, this is a step in the right direction. I think they have to use a different producer next time around. I mean even Bob Rock has gone on record saying that it took them 15 mins. to get the drum sound? The hell you say?! It sounds like it! And this guy handled the bass tracks? You can't hear anything there! I hope that they rid themselves of Robert, while he's a probably a good dude, He just doesn't fit the damn band! And like you said, there's always next time.

St Anger the song is fucking TERRIBLE!!! You'd think we'd have learnt from nu-metal to avoid all their disgusting cliches, but that song manages to throw 'em all into a cement mixer (the one they produced the album from) and churn out a bag of shit! Hope the rest of the album is MUCH better cos the snippets I heard here and there sure weren't!

Wow, You managed to review the whole record based on one track?!
Well, Your opinion is your opinion....:loco:

I gotta say my favorite track on the disc is SWEET AMBER. I just love how it starts clean and slow and then kicks in...to me that is classic James Hetfield right hang chugging along. Black Sabbath on steroids. The riff is reminiscent of "motorbreath" or something of that nature. BY THE WAY, SWINE...I burned an acoustic version of MOTORBREATH off the metallicavault thing...interested?

Yes, but for the record you didn't burn it off the "vault" it was off a compilation you got from a guy across the pond, right?:erk:
I would gladly take a copy of this if you can get me a copy....:D

Errrm, no. Did I say I was talking about the album? "St Anger the song..." and "Hope the rest of the album..." not mean anything to you? Are you Jewish?

I dunno, St. Anger (song) seems to have grown on me... but the album version is too long (especially since there woulda definatly been roomfor a solo).
But Frantic, The Unnamed Feeling, and All Wthin My Hands are the best I'd say

I like Dirty Window,St.Anger,Sweet amber
I must say I wasnt Half as dissapointed as I thought I would be with this album They made an effort(Though not in the sound quality) To make a heavier album than the load records And I can appreciate that at least Though St.Anger Does not Hold A candle to say "OVERKILL Killbox 13" The bass sucks the drumming is terrible but the DVD makes it all worth it In a whole I like the album tho It had a nice price!!!

You're not alone, Ayeka. It would be great if the Shit Anger listeners throw that Metallica shit in the trash. I saw the video like 2 or 3 times and booooooooooooy did they sound like a bunch of boyband faggots!

I finally heard the whole St. Anger cd and can honestly say that it is garbage. Coming from NoCal and having experienced the old days of thrash metal (and still a fan of the genre) I am of course dismayed by the lack of heaviness that Metallica has portrayed on their last three albums. It also seems that many of the people that are defending this latest effort are in fact fans of the new metal genre so it doesn't surprise me. For those of you who are older and should know better shame on you. What I am most disheartened by is that some think that St. Anger is comparable to the earlier stuff.

I am probably one of the few people on this board who experienced the early days of Metallica. Back then the Bay area scene was competitive and the bands were heavy. Metal and hardcore were beginning to crossover and the bands in the Bay were breaking new ground. It was routine to see the guys in Metallica hanging out at the shows and lending support to the other bands. Nowadays, the scene has stagnated due to commercialism, although there has been somewhat of a rennaissance, and the guys in Metallica are busy suing Napster and playing alongside the Berkley Philharmonic Orchestra. My how times have changed.

Metallica in my own honest opinion is finished. Gone are Hetfield's growling vocals that played a huge part in the sound of Metallica as well as in being very influental in the Thrash Metal genre. Lars sounds like he plays on trash cans and the guitars sound weak. Anyone who thinks that this latest Metallica effort isn't comparable to commercialized boy band garbage is an idiot especially when they (Metallica) show up at candy ass events such as the Grammies and the EmptyV music awards (which I'm sure is going to happen) and act like fucking movie stars while mugging it up with materialistic morons like the Backstreet Boys and Snoop Doggy Idiot.

Thankfully Testament, Exodus, and Death Angel haven't forgotten their roots! Long live the true school.

Heres My favorite st. anger tracks:

Thats all of them.

Metallica Fucking Sucks terribly now-a-days. It is recycled nu-metal, please do not give them anymore money. Keep listening to the first four albums, and you'll all be fine.

What a great review of the record!
Give the man a rubber tortilla, another rivet head that
uses sucks on a regular basis....:loco:

I like St Anger, Frantic and Sweet Amber. Getting a DVD with it is cool, normally you'd fork out £20 for a bands DVD. And even though i don't really like St Anger i don't care. Metallica could release a cover of 'Somewhere over the Rainbow' and i wouldn't care cos THEY WROTE ONE. :D
