St.Anger...

Oh and to lone justify my going to a Belladonna show. It's raining like hell today which means I have a day off. Otherwise, I wouldn't go. I look forward to it actually....for nostalgic reasons. He's playing at a bar that's walking distance from my house. It's saturday night and I'd normally be at a bar anyway. Why not be at a bar with Belladonna prancing around in the background??

I got the cd yesterday and haven't listened to it strait through yet. I agree with the others that think the production stinks and the songs are too long. Like someone else said, long songs are fine but it just doesn't seem to work on this cd. The second time I played it, I liked it better than the first though. Maybe this cd will just take some time to grow on people. I'm really not dissapointed with buying it due to the fact I didn't have high expectations. I due think the dvd sounds better than the cd except for the vocals. I don't think this cd will ever be one of my favorites by metallica though

I have to agree with 90% of everyone. I could rant and rant but most of it seems to be covered. Maybe i'm missing something and someday it will hit me like a ton of bricks but right now man it's just bad. You can't try to sound "garage" when you're using state of the art equipment and a producer whose lifetime of work in engineering and production is to make things sound decent. Too many chiefs and not enough indians. Anyone that wants my cd & dvd please talk to me. Just want my beer money back.

Yeah, I agree with most people here. And as many can testify, I defended the band on these very pages before the album came out. And now I am pissed. I recommend everyone go buy a metal CD to celebrate not buying Metallica.

Ever notice how everybody trashes ....And Justice for All? Nevermind the fact that it was written and recorded within a years time of a fellow band member and friend dying....I think Justice is what it should have been. From the filtered sound of every vocal down to the non existant bass. That was pure. Every song had an emotion to it that ppl just can't write anymore. The total bleakness for the future, disgust w/ the courts and most importantly the constant references to loss of life made it one of the greatest metal albums of all time.

St. Anger COULD'VE almost captured this. Instead of loss of life, the loss of friends and ones loss of self control would have been great topics to get some meaningful lyrics out of. Honestly, the only songs that sound inspired by true emotion are the title track and "All Within My Hands" .....however, they made these songs like all others on this disc WAY too long. Don't get me wrong. I still listen to the album and can bare to have it pass through my ears, but even I know that it isn't what it could or should have been. Like I said before, all they got left in 'em is one more record. And for that they should draw on the feeling on nothingness and hatred for all the fans that they finally drove away.
Then they'll go out on top....as MetallicA, not METALLICA. ( see the name difference, if the first 5 albums had a different name style plastered across them, the fans would've bitchslapped 'em sideways.)

In short, I think they got another great one in 'em.
The question remains, can they manage to not fuck it up?

I really wish there was a way to mute the singing and oil drum lars beats on from this cd because those are the worst part in my opinion. That's why I like the dvd better, that annoying snare that lars uses isn't as loud and the vocals seem to be softer.

and Greg on what you say I have some close freinds that have done rehab..and been allowed to look at the notes they sdcrawled in therapy, and The newest lyrics read like few good therap[y sessions with all the inside looks at one's self...to me that makes me like it more
