one of my problems with religions is the lack of accountability. like the catholic view that all sins can be washed clean by confession and penance. imo this type of thing breeds the self righteousness that plagues religious people. Some of the most despicable people I know are christian, the most judgmental vindictive assholes that believe they are better than everyone else just because they have faith and have some priest (or equivalent) telling them they are good devout people.
