Flesh To Steel
I'm freaking out a little about my voice. Like a month ago I played a show with my band and I had a bad chest cold that was fucking my voice up. Well the PA provided at the place isn't so great, it completely distorts your voice so you have to really fight with it to get a good sound (going out of your range to compensate for bad speakers). Well between my cold and using bad technique all night because I couldn't hear what I actually sounded like left my voice just fucking shredded. For the first time in my life my voice was gone, and ever since I can't growl well at all, and my normal singing voice is deteriorated too although not as bad. I'm really worried this is permanent and it's pissing me off because I went against my own vocal principles for one show and I now have absolutely no consistency. My growls waver all over, my voice cracks and I have no power. Now a week of that I would understand but it's been at least a month and while it has improved since the first week it's been minimal and still way below my acceptable standards. I would rather quit all together than do a mediocre job, and I have vocals to record for an EP within a month...
Wtf gais?
I guess I'm hoping that this happens to everyone and they come bakc better than ever lol. Like seriously, the great growlers surely have done this from time and time and they bounce back. I refuse to believe Peter Tagtgren has never lost his voice with those retarded highs.
edit: I rested my voice for almost the entire month btw, I only tried out a few vocal warmups like once a week to avoid pushing my vocal chords. I don't know if I should start practicing again and that will help or if that will make it worse.
