Kind of the same thing from my point of view...at least as far as reference goes. I searched stags and elks and they both looked essentially the same to me. So you are both right.

Like I said, the war ape is their mascot..and they wanted it riding a "Battlestagg", so that's what they got. So the real answer to your question would be "Why not?".
