stefan86's offtopic random retard thread - post away!

hahaha €800 a month is a computer engineer's salary here (for the first year or two) :D
actually it doesn't matter how much you get, what matters the most is the living standards that are related to a lot of external factors

Not to mention bloody expensive! Spent nearly 1700 euro's on lessons etc this far and will have to add at least another 500 to that cause I didn't pass the test today. :erk:

That's Europe for ya. Damn Americans are so spoiled...they start driving when they're 16-17 because it doesn't cost them anything :p But here you have to pay a fortune just to learn, then when you actually buy a car, there is the ridiculously expensive petrol, road tax, insurance...etc. That's why I haven't bothered to learn yet, I'm always skint :p

Thing is they keep raising the prices for public transport every year, and the standard stays the same...buses smelling like piss, food on the seats...etc. I walk most places anyway, only catch the bus when my destination is more than a 20 minute walk :p

that depends on where u live, I live in a city 15 minutes away from downtown (by car), so i HAVE to take bus (which takes 20 minutes to get there) or metro (35 minutes, different road) and both em suck ass, they raised the prices too this summer. Downtown is the best place to live in, everything is close to you, you don't need public transport almost at all.

Yep, and whenever it gets slightly cheaper again they always find some sort of new law to make it even more expensive. Won't buy a car though, my parents have two so I can use one of theirs in the weekends and that.:)

if you are satisfied with your public transport, i don't see why you would like to get a car if it will cost u a fucking fortune (taxes, petrols and shits) !
I'm not satisfied with public transport, that's the problem. :p There's one busline into my hometown which goes twice an hour and in the weekend only once an hour. Not to mention it takes a fucking hour to get to town even though it's a 20 minute ride. It's also ridiculously expensive aswell.
Oh and if you want to go to Germany, which is only 5km from here, you're fucked cause there IS no p.t. that goes there. (Yeah I usually cycle there but still, going by car is much faster and nicer when the rain is pouring down for example.)
