metal fans: bitching about how people closed-mindedly judge their music while doing the same to every other genre

I listen to Gorillaz, Outkast and Kaizers Orchestra among many other non-metal bands. Begone with your stupid opinions and prejudice.

i have a great one.....

(radio station dj...) "......and they are currently on tour with a heavy metal band called Flyleaf, which we played a few months ago..." (which is bad enough) (plays clip of flyleaf, and coincidentally plays clip of woman singer screaming)...."i cant believe we actually played that on the radio"

My problem with rap and pop music. Majority of the front vocalists or singers have someone else write the music and lyrics. Someone who does this will send a song lyrically or musically to a pop singer or label and the label of the pop singer can buy it if they want(which is sad). To make it more sad is all the songs and lyrics are all written by different people that have their own lives. For example someone who is really ugly or non hip might be able to write amazing lyrics but since they don't have the look to sell it someone who has the look has to get the song out. That person might be able to write lyrics or play but would never get anywhere because they don't fit in with the mainstream world . Or someone who is 35 might write lyrics that seem written by a 16 year old so they have to market it to a 16 year old vocalist who can express it. When the album is released that front vocalist is going to have to tour performing the songs. A label has to hire musicians to learn the songs on the album so that person can promote their garbage making enough money to buy them mansions all over the world. To make this more sad the front vocalist probably does not even know what instruments make what sounds the entire tour.

Example. Do you think britney spears jessica simpon or her sister and people like this actually can tell what instrument is making the sounds in their songs ?. I highly doubt it. This is nothing but a marketing scam for people to make money off dumb singers to unamaginative music listeners. This is nothing more than marketing so everyone involved can make some quick cash. Evolving trend

Regardless if down the line a singer is no longer 'cool' the people/labels that gave them success can always find someone else who is in to make money off and will always make money off the old artists. Some fat talentless dweeb who is good with business is the one making all the money from these people and real musicians all over the world have trouble paying to record an album because there music does not sound like a specific date in time so people don't want to market it.

that applies to only mainstream pop and hiphop so really you have no idea what youre talking about beyond your narrow perception of what those genres entail

its also really irrelevant shit that everyone already knows

The problem with this statement is that you have probably never heard "the majority" of rap and pop music, same as people who make these comments about metal have never heard the majority of metal. You hear the rap and pop that's plaed on the radio, and on video hits and MTV and shite like that, same place rap and pop fans are subjected to "metal."
In the end, 98% of mainstream music is going to be complete shit, and unless you dig deeper into a given scene, you're only going to hear what's spoon-fed to you, which is always going to be rubbish.
I am not a fan of rap or pop myself, but I have no doubt that there are very talented artists out there in both genres, sadly talent is not a prerequisite to success in the music industry.

I don't think pop could possibly be underground. I agree with everything else you said though.

Bands that are "pop" in a musical sense could be, simply because they're not widely known, but not pop as in pop culture, because pop = popular, so yeh.

Pop can't be underground because then it would not be pop. Pop is music that is regarded as world music meaning it could be played anywhere and people would not think anything of it. If something is not played in a store bar or club than the chances of it being pop music is none.

Pop and rap fans: looking like idiots whenever they try to discuss music that is not pop or rap music.

You are making it seem like one side which is funny.
