I dont understand the point of these topics. I'd rather people ignored the whole illegal debate, because its been done to death and got to the point of the topic (ie the Suicide Silence production), rather than trying to reinforce opinions that aren't going to have any effect on anything palpable.
The moment I see these topics, even containing a little bit of something suspect I know James will be in with his King Canute the Great bit, trying to push back the eternal tide, although even Canute was making the point that it was an excercise in futility, every time you reiterate something on an internet forum you are not winning the battle against piracy, hell its not even making anybodies e-penis look bigger, the blatant attempts at one upmanship are cringeworthy and embarrassing for everyone who wants to just get on with what the real meat of this forum is about.

Holy shit!! I never thought I'd create so much hatred! Dudes, there a store here in my town called Piranha that just got the CD, I already had it pre-ordered, gave half of the price of the album. I even pondered in pre-ordering from their myspace so it would come with a tshirt. I was only bitching because, yes, it's true, I downloaded because I couldn't wait to hear it... and found it was clipping. that's all! I love the album, I'm still gonna buy it, but the clipping matter really makes me wanna puke.
And seriously guys, don't be such a fucking hypocrites and tell anyone here that you NEVER fucking downloaded anything in your life, that is completely BULLSHIT! I'm not one of those "kids" that have all their albums downloaded from the internet, I have about 2000's cds, I've ALWAYS loved to buy CDs, I just downloaded this album just to hear it before because I COULDN'T WAIT FOR FUCK SAKE!! It really makes me sad to see this forum being watered down to HCAF level.
there used to be pretty much only pros and experienced engineers and musicians as well as people who were really interested in learning the craft.
now we collect the kids who have fuck all clue about musicbusiness but act like knowitall dickheads.
80% of the threads in the "rate my.." section is about POD, revalver, DFH, AD, Impulses and 70% of the threads in the general forum is about "I wanna be as big as you so give me stuff for free and I'll be the next Sneap....and I'm already better than you anyway".
We had the creme de la creme coming and posting here...Sneap (of course), Bogren, Richardson, JAmes Murphy people from KSE, Despised Icon etc.
just have a look over all the very old threads.....you could actually learn something....
nowadays this forum becomes more and more a less crowded version of HCAF.
What I wish is that this forum becomes again what it used to be..a place where professionals could meet and kill time as well as aspiring engineers and people who really wanna learn something and are willing to work for it could gather info and get real life hints from the pros etc.
I wish we had the posibility of just having a 14 day trial membership...by the end of that period the active members would have to vote yes/no for the trial-member to become a regular who'd need to get at least 90% "yes".
this might be a Nazi thought but that's ok, cause I'm German

You're definitely right, first of all I should've posted this in the off-topic, and second I was a bit drunk... so it may have look like I was raging and all, no lol, I was just expressing my dislike because I had such high hopes for this album, and it's clipping to hell, it stops me from actually enjoying it... Seriously, I didn't really want to start a shitstorm over here.... I actually thought this would go in a "loudness war" kind of discussion, not internet shit and personal attacks... I agree that the forum could use less crap and more info.
But its pretty piculiar to me that its not the threads were you/andy/st.amand/whoever the fuck post that go wrong, but its mostly the ones that Mr.Murphy posts in that go fubar.
Maybe its not where he's aiming at, but people tend to get offended a BIT more in those threads then the ones you and me post for example.

+INFINITY. I find myself reading only about 5% of the threads on this forum, if that these days. There's tons of really awesome dudes here with interesting things to say but it's become seriously watered down with nonsense.
Kids, buy your fucking CDs. I could kill your parents and use the same arguments you are using for justifying downloading music for free. It's bullshit.
James, I'm sure I speak for a lot of us here when I say thanks for putting up with the bullshit and still taking the time to stop in and share your knowledge with us. Seizure, i speak my mind and i don't dance around the issues i'm discussing with fear of hurting someone's feelings, that's why... but it's just as interesting to note that it's only younger guys that get offended by what i say. the older members used to comment to me how much they loved the fact that i didn't walk on rice-paper and would get straight to the point, and they availed themselves of whatever i might have had to offer them by asking questions... the younger lot here get offended when i speak though, and seldom ever ask audio questions... i came here to share knowledge, but more and more this forum is not about knowledge-seeking, it's become about, as Lasse said, impulses and presets and samples and piracy, and i've pretty well decided to leave it be for now.
mostly i just don't have as much time anymore, i'm solid booked.... but partly i just feel weakened by the direction of the forum of late.

to be honest Adam, i think more than 5% of everything posted here is of value. Sure theres the odd disagreement, the odd joke or to, but generally, its still mostly informative.
I came here looking for tips and tricks and have found a shitload, but along the way I have found great people who share knowledge, jokes and a strong head to say what they think, to me its al cool.
I am one of those dicky, farty kinda blokes. I still dont have good skills to contribute to most of what people are asking for, but I am getting there, day by day. So I read like a motherfucker, soak up as much info as I can, and try to post here often, but unfortunately, its mostly a crude attempt at humour. If I was knowledgeable as Andy, James JBroll, Tastic, Ermz, Lasse etc, I wouldnt hesitate to post, but I am no where near that at the moment, so I am hanging in there with the odd joke and the odd, "well screw you, this is what I think"
Battles come up now and then, but from what I can see, its 95% about the info we crave. Hell this will be forgotten about in a week!

Yeah 5% was a little exaggerated, I counted 7-8 threads out of 30 on the first page that have anything to do with the forum so the real percentage is more like 25% I guess
