Suicide Silence - No Time To Bleed

It really makes me sad to see this forum being watered down to HCAF level.
there used to be pretty much only pros and experienced engineers and musicians as well as people who were really interested in learning the craft.
now we collect the kids who have fuck all clue about musicbusiness but act like knowitall dickheads.
80% of the threads in the "rate my.." section is about POD, revalver, DFH, AD, Impulses and 70% of the threads in the general forum is about "I wanna be as big as you so give me stuff for free and I'll be the next Sneap....and I'm already better than you anyway".
We had the creme de la creme coming and posting here...Sneap (of course), Bogren, Richardson, JAmes Murphy people from KSE, Despised Icon etc.
just have a look over all the very old threads.....you could actually learn something....
nowadays this forum becomes more and more a less crowded version of HCAF.

What I wish is that this forum becomes again what it used to be..a place where professionals could meet and kill time as well as aspiring engineers and people who really wanna learn something and are willing to work for it could gather info and get real life hints from the pros etc.
I wish we had the posibility of just having a 14 day trial membership...by the end of that period the active members would have to vote yes/no for the trial-member to become a regular who'd need to get at least 90% "yes".
this might be a Nazi thought but that's ok, cause I'm German ;)

It's sad to see how the pros and former regulars post less and less because this forum becomes more and more a Kindergarten where kids can play "I've talked to the famous guy" instead of a place they could go to and learn....leave your shit attitude over at HCAF.

lasse, that's really unfortunate you feel that way. as if you feel you're too good for normal people? i am deeply sorry that i wasn't gifted with knowledge and money. i am deeply sorry that studying at uni makes me unable to spend as much time as i'd like to learn mixing, and recording, because if i had the time, i definitely would do it a lot more often.

but, at the end of the day, if you feel that you're too good for here, if you think that pro-tips should be shared among pros and pros alone, and james agrees with you.. perhaps you should make a private forum, away from everyone else, who just have what they can run on their computer.

again, i'm sorry i can't afford a protools HD setup, or 6 different amps, god knows how many mics, or the space to mic them up, and not get complaints from anyone else i live with.

you've got nothing to offer us noobs, so you wont be missed if you were to fuck right off.

you and james need to control your arrogance, get down to earth, and give a fuck about people who're trying their best with what they've got.

i'm sorry if that offends you.

thanks,

I'd actually love to have a more strict mod over here...someone who's trigger happy with the "delete" and "ban" functions ;)

what are you talking about?
I know english sin't my first language, but I didn't think anyone could get my post THAT wrong.
I'm pretty sure the people posting here regularily will disagree with the picture you're painting of me...but that might just be another sign of my arrogance ;)

Lasse repetitively included the phrase "people really interested in learning the craft" in his post too dude, that happens to be where I classify myself at least in regards to his post... I am not even close to a pro by any means but I don't feel alienated by his post, if you are passionate about engineering and have a serious interest in it then you fit right in with the people he was describing.

yep, I was actually putting myself in that category as well...

i'm sorry if i mis-understood your intentions, however that's how it sounded when i read it, and reading it again, it still feels that way. i'd dissect it line by line, but i really can't be bothered.

but whatever, it could just be english not being your first language, i guess.

in any case, james was really pissing me off, and that post is still valid for the likes of him.

I think Lasse's got a good point dan. What he's talking about is that this forum SHOULD be about pro engineers as well as aspiring engineers wanting to learn more about the craft they (we) so much love. And it should stick onto that and not derailing like this thread has. And that is particularly my fault since I'm the one who started, so I feel a single thread having caused such a tremendous shit throwing against each other... I apologize for that once again. But Lasse's post wasn't arrogant, it was pretty real. In fact, why do you even come to this forum, it is to learn right? To share experiences, tips, techniques and at the same time absorb the knowledge others willingly share without asking for anything in return, all because they're a bunch of cool people who actually *give a crap* about this forum.

by what was he pissing you off?
this topic (illegal downloads) have been discussed to death, there's always some 18yrs old guy on one side and a seasoned pro on the other side.
illegal downloads harm the music industry...budgets get lower and our income decreases....indirectly you're stealing from us!! And you get defensive about being told that those crackpot arguments "downloads help promoting the bands" are BS?

on the other thing....I don't think I've EVER shown arrogance because "I own HD", nor has James. (not that I wanna put myself in the same league as James here).
I used to be a student myself...in fact that's wwhen I got most of my guitars. I didn't go to parties or have a car...in fact I still don't have a car, cause I spend every single penny for my business. I do have some nice gear, yes, but I've accumulated that over the years, and I've saved and worked hard for it.

Andy and JAmes NEVER looked down on someone not having HD, 6 amps etc....there are plenty of people here trying to make the best out of the little they've got...and doing a KILLER job doing that. What you just said about my and JAmes' arrogance towards people who don't have the same gear is such a bullshit it's actually not even worth replying to.

Whenever I had/have a question or wanted to know something James helped me in no time. Andy is sharing more than most of us and neither of them is looking down on people who don't have HD.
I used to work in Cubase for a long time because I couldn't afford HD. James has helped me BIGTIME with the switchm and he's still helping me whenever I have a PT related problem. I just have to ASK.
I myself just made a tutorial to help people editing drums in cubase and am replying to an average of 2 PM a day about editing in cubase etc. I'm sure James is doing even much more.
if you ASK, these guys will help you more than most people would.....but you don't, you spend your time on this forums with posts like this and then point fingers.

don't get me wong, but why is it only the short-time / newer members that act like this? I've never experienced a longtime regular on this forum behaving that way.
I'm totally cool with you thinking I'm looking down on people w/o PT, and I'm sure so is James...not fuzzed, but you should think about the fact that it's ALWAYS people with low (musicrelated) postcounts and not the old timers here that are pointing fingers.

quit that attitude and just ASK questions and people on this forum will help you. Act like a dick and you'll get matching reactions that'll make you think we're arrogant

ohh man....

I´m a member of this forum since 2006 and
I have never read such disrespectfull posts like this year.

So I realy can understand Lasse!!!
This was the ÜBERFORUM and now there is not much difference left...

if you'd like me to be specific then;

It really makes me sad to see this forum being watered down to HCAF level.

i'm sorry i'm not a pro, etc.

there used to be pretty much only pros and experienced engineers and musicians as well as people who were really interested in learning the craft.

i think it's safe to say if someone is here, they want to learn how to record and mix.

80% of the threads in the "rate my.." section is about POD, revalver, DFH, AD

which you've previously stated you don't even listen to. => you're too good for these people/mixes.

all of my mixes have been with 7170/8505/soloc/pod farm, none of which you've listened to because i stated that in the title. and you don't look down at me?

We had the creme de la creme coming and posting here...Sneap (of course), Bogren, Richardson, JAmes Murphy people from KSE, Despised Icon etc.

=> the forum is filled with non-pros, and that somehow upsets you.

It's sad to see how the pros and former regulars post less and less because this forum becomes more and more a Kindergarten where kids can play "I've talked to the famous guy" instead of a place they could go to and learn....leave your shit attitude over at HCAF.

if you're not looking down your nose at everyone who isn't pro then.. i'm hugely mistaken.

not once have i mentioned piracy, because you're right, it's a tried and tested argument, which always ends 2 groups of people - those who can afford it, and those who can't.

also, i only mentioned PTHD in passing, it's just the point of having money to spend.

i too, hardly go out, i hardly get drunk, hardly ever smoke weed, i don't have a car, i try to spend as little money as i can, etc. things are a bit gash with the economy right now, and other things. at the end of the day, i'm not gonna have money to spend on studio related stuff for quite a while.

i respect you for having all the stuff you do, please don't get me wrong on that, but from that post, i really get the impression that you're looking down on some people (if not all).

thanks,

sorry, but your quotes and comments are fucking twisted

me: It really makes me sad to see this forum being watered down to HCAF level.
you: i'm sorry i'm not a pro, etc.

I don't even know how you're making the connection from my quotes to your comments

are you stoned?
I'm not even gonna reply to those "arguments" (now THAT is something you can call arrogant)

oh no, socialnumb thinks i'm a faggot. well, i promise not to suck your dick. *sigh*

lasse, it's really not difficult to follow - you say that only professionals, and people that are really interested in learning the business, used to post here. if you think the forum is being watered down, then you're under the impression that both groups post less frequently/are being displaced by non-pros.

which part of that have i got wrong? if i've mis-understood you, i'll be quick to apologise.

although given socialnumbs incredibly useful response, perhaps you're correct.

dcdanman:
Please read Lasse post again!!!!
please dont try to find something that isnt there!!!!
Lasse only said that this forum starts to lose its way!!!
So dont feel attacked....

I said no such thing. I was attempting to discourage this shit feast from getting any larger. For the record, I too think you are wrong.

This entire thread is useless.

That is all.

Good day sir.

i seriously hope i don't end up like this :|

fine guys, you've made your point.

enjoy.

on Lasse's behalf...

since one of the types of people Lasse mentioned (pros and eager learners) were not pros to start with how does it follow that both are being "displaced" by more non pros, to use your words?

what Lasse has clearly said is that both types are slowly being displaced by kids who are here to cause problems, troll, and play at it... and not really very serious about truly learning anything... since you'd rather blow in to a place that had great times for 5 years and piss on everything and everyone that made it a cool place and never ask any questions to the very people that could be helping you... impossible to miss that from what he said unless you've eaten lead paint chips as a snack everyday for 10 years.. but you'd rather argue.

we at least have a motivation: to try and salvage what was once a cool place for BOTH those already working in the studios and those who sincerely would like to be... what's your motivation? to lower the bar as far as you can?

EDIT: turns out to be a "late hit"... looks like the thread ended while i was typing. fair enough. i'm done.
