Sydney meet-up

Yep, much better. Those were still great shows, but this was different because it was a greatest hits show (as opposed to AMOLAD+five classics) and the crowd was much more into it.

Yeah that makes sense. I take it when they're not doing a greatest old hits show or one like that ones you saw, they do a mix of material, like on the live albums?

One of Maiden's crew was rocking out to Doctor Doctor down the side of the stage on Thursday night, which was pretty cool to see, given he presumably hears it a lot. :)

I want to discuss the setlists, but I'll wait till the Australian tour's over, so as not to spoil anything for anyone who hasn't been yet.

Who shoulda been at the MD meet, Spiffo? Name and shame, name and shame!!

Yeah, they usually do five or six songs from a new album and the rest old stuff. Check out Rock in Rio, Death on the Road and Live at Donington for examples. :)

Dunno who should have been there, Winnie - I guess all the Sydney people who post here that didn't turn up!

Spiff,
Hope that you enjoy this evening's event too !!!

At one of the shows you are going to, could you get me one of the tour shirts and mail it up here ?
PM me how I can get money to you in advance.

I bought the Madness shirt last night (and love it), but on reflection I should have the roo one as well.

What size? I'll get it in Brisbane and post it this week.

I bought five shirts all up:

Aussie tour shirt
Powerslave shirt
Long-sleeved shirt
Aces High shirt
Live After Death shirt

Plus the Somewhere in Time shirt for my brother, badges for the sister-in-law and a mug and programme for me.

BTW, am not ashamed to say that I wore earplugs. I work in a place that I regularly see 115dBA

BCE started it, as I thought "I'm not wasting my hearing on that"...I found that their musicians were pretty OK, as I could hear their guitars without a lot of the noise that accompanied it, and they were good.

Maiden, I tried plugs in and out, and preferred the high end guitars and vocals with them in.

I think there's some confusion over the meeting place.

There's the Novotel bar, a nice little sun-deck etc on the "ground" level of the novotel, and there's the brewery/tavern on the level below that.

We were confused for a bit, 'till I remembered Xena's post about wanting not to be crowded and smokey, so we stayed on the sun-deck.

The BBQ at the tavern/brewery was pretty damned tasty 'though.

edit...the restaurants at Acer Arena seemed pretty pissed that I spoke to. They were told to open, and did. No-one came.

I didn't know that there were pizza places etc. at the Arena waiting to seat us and serve us beer !!!

Yep, I was really confused about where you guys were. I know I originally said I didnt think I'd make it but as fate had it, I did:heh:

Damn, I wished I'd known about the food inside Acer, I would've prefered that to the plastic trash I ate:lol: We were supposed to go to a Turkish place but it didnt happen.
