Just wondering if they had any shows before the 98 tour...Since I've seen every tour since 2000, and heard some of the 98 tour shows, I'm curious.

No disrespect buddy, but i'm talking further back.
I have the entire twenty something japan europe 98 tour list...
what happened before that on the live front?

^

Amazing, "Lady of the Snow" appears on the set of one of those concerts...

I´m really curious about it, for me is one of those amazing songs that weren´t made to be played live (besides, not all SX´s fans like it... don´t understand why...)

Thank you guys, but I'm aware of ALL the dates on the 98 tour. Is everyone sure they've never performed live before that? even though they were active for almost 5 years?? Maybe Jax can help us out...Jax?

I remember hearing that one of the reasons Rod Tyler left was because he didn't like performing live - but that would be impossible if they hadn't performed while he was still in the band, right?

Unfortunately I can't find a source on that, so it might be wrong - all I have is a vague memory. Sorry I can't be of more help.

^---Not impossible, he might have left because he never wanted to play live and he knew it has going to happen at some point with this band. Wouldn't be the first time a person leaves a band for that reason.

^if that is true, than i say thank god/allah/christ/budha and the cults for live shows...
not a fan of Tyler.

^i bet that is the only example you can think of...
now run online and prove me wrong as if you had a list all along

Ayreon is not a band..it's an ensemble that varies from album to album. And its creator Arjen, who i am proud to call a friend and the guy who first introduced me to Russell Allen during the star one days, has actually performed quite a bit before during and after Ayreon. Counting ayreon is like counting Explorer's club etc...But back to the subject at hand: any pre-TIO shows anyone??

They don't exist, man. And I always heard that them starting to tour was the reason that Miller left the band.
Official Biography on MySpace said:
March 1998 saw the release of their fourth studio album Twilight In Olympus, and the band's first, eagerly awaited concerts.

^I've read the bio. It's just that almost every band does test gigs/hometown shows before they start touring the world. I guess i'm just sad no one got to see the TDWOT tour...what a setlist that would be. Correct the wrong and do an "evening with" tour that has the entire album as the second half of the set. Who's up for that idea?

Yeah, definitely. I've said before that since this year is the 15th anniversary of that album's release, it would be cool if they did something like that.

^---Not impossible, he might have left because he never wanted to play live and he knew it has going to happen at some point with this band. Wouldn't be the first time a person leaves a band for that reason.

Maybe they played at some small bars or something in their early days? It's possible they could have, but either way, I would love to see those setlists. I bet they played all kinds of goodies!

I believe there was one show in NY/NJ waaaaaay back in the day, not sure about what exactly came before the Japanese tour though. I'm actually working on their tour history right now, so once I get that far back, I'll be doing some digging, & picking some brains. :)
