i have never understood the whole moshing thing. it is so strange. i always think, "here we are supposed to be watching these amazing musicians, and these idiots are beating the shit out of each other" :Smug:

I have been wondering for a while, do most Opeth gigs (i.e. not metalcore SOTU-type gigs) have lots of moshing? When I saw them, it was an underage gig, which wasn't exactly packed choc-a-block, so nobody really moshed, and I was able to just stand there, listen and maybe headbang a bit to the straight forward heavy bits.
moshing is a HUGE release of pent up tension, enough said. I've done it to slayer and twice to meshuggah and needless to say its an extremely cathartic experience and interestingly enough you can concentrate on the music too, with slayer I didn't particularly WANT to but with meshuggah it was awesome, not for everyone by a long way but I have to agree that to Opeth its just weird
lmao so true.......oh and btw moshing only blows if you have the mentality of an ant, it doesn't blow if you have the mentality of a slug....t'is a fine line ;-)
