That Clayman Vocal sound

The guitar sound has been discussed for years but how about the vocals?
Lots of stuff going on there any ideas how it was done?

they mic'd every cymbal, drum, vocalist and even the ceiling fan at one point "fredman style" for that low warm mid sound

Hah. I always think that Colony is the "beta" version of Clayman. It's awesome for sure, and lately I've been digging the songs more, but the production of Clayman is just fantastic.

To the OP, it sounds like a good mic, good vocalist, some heavy compression, and some double tracking here and there. Splash a little medium length verb on there and that's it.

Is that first 58 supposed to be right in the middle of the mouth or slightly off centre?

considering it was anders... im assuming only a single sm58 off axis. That man has some nastiez coming out that's for sure. But again, yeh. What's already been said, nothing major sounds like it's going on! He was good then. The performances sound solid the rest is good compression some eq/ comp and verb.

If you want uber processing listen to the come clarity stuff... yeck :S
