The 5:35 syndrome!

I once listened to "The Drapery Falls" to look up the exact point where my favorite riff starts - it was at 5:35. After this day I did things like that more often and I noticed that I had a lot of favorite riffs at points around 5:35, max. 10-20 secs before or after. For eample in Godhead's Lament, White Cluster, Blackwarter Park and others it's the case, I think there's also a song from Orchid but I don't remember which one. Those ones mostly are short, hard and great riffs; I wonder if it's kind of a system, weird thing. In future I'll be writing down all the favorite riffs with a short description, so I'll see how often they are around 5:35 .

BTW, does somebody know "Solitary Shell" from Dream Theater? Oh I love that song! Are there any other DT-Songs like this one? It could convince me of that band, really, although I know that normally they are a lot harder but I also like "The Glass Prison".

Imagine if they recorded a song exactly 5:35 in length, and it sucked. Of course that is a ludicrous suggestion as Opeth doesn't write subpar material, but it would blow your theory.

No, it wouldn't blow any theory cuz I didn't say it's the case in every song. It's just special riffs that I always remember and look forward to, don't know why, although phon1c is right - most of Opeth's riffs are great.
