The Annual Cryptic Roster Clue Post...

Yessir: they were offered the headliner at PP4, and they asked for #4 instead so they'd have time to hang out afterwards - and do the autograph session that inadvertently stole a lot of Rage's potential audience.
Thanks. Learn something new everyday.

I guess we all stand corrected. Good foresight on EG's part too! It would friggin' kick ass to have them back to PP! :headbang:

News to me. However, let me state that I did offer it as a co-headline slot for the night just for clarification. However, it was for the fourth spot regardless.

Non US Debut:

Helloween.... Sonata Arctica.... Grave Digger.... Opeth.... Running Wild (any of these could fit the bill)

Sonata Arctica is doing a headlining US tour in January/Feb 2006.

OPeth is just wrapping up Leg 1 of a US tour and will be doing another US tour in March. Opeth also had a headlining tour in support of Damnation.

They also were on Sounds of the Underground, which was a huge hardcore festival, that OPETH destroyed.

Helloween I'd say is a possibility, probably not Grave Digger though =/ .

If the lineup consists of at least one of the following:

Rage
Persuader
Iron Savior
Grave Digger
Savage Circus
Gamma Ray

You can bet I will be buying my ticket the day they go on sale :D

:headbang:

Damn straight.

Return bands.......I'm guessing Evergrey will be headlining and the other return band (based on what I've read on the forum over the past year) will be Pagan's Mind, Mercenary, Silent Force, or maybe Zero hour.

I wouldn't be suprised if Helloween or Dragonforce are playing........and I would be pretty suprised if Masterplan aren't playing. I guess Pink Cream 69 were well received this year, so maybe that will pave to way to see Freak Kitchen as next year's "oddball," following the same type trend.

I don't really have any other guesses right now.

I just realized that no US Bands means that my one hope for Virgin Steele is gone this year. Maybe one day I'll get to see them. There's still hope for Dragonforce, though.

Oh, and Helloween . . . I saw them live here in Philadelphia for the Headbangers ball tour back in 87 or 88 . . . so yes, they've played here before (and yes, I'm old).

Virgin Steele is amazing live. I've seen them three times now, all in NY. We'd all be lucky if they graced the PP stage one day.

Damn, no Enchant and no PoS. Damn, damn, damn.

So in reading the hints, there's only 1 band that has played the US before, but has not played PPUSA? That means both Helloween and Sonata Arctica can't be there, right? Damn again.....

Oh, CO-headline! I'd always heard it was #5. My bad.

I'll just slink off into this hole now...

Don't forget Rhapsody for that non-US debut band.
Didn't Rhapsody just play a few dates in the US? So if they did that would rule them out as making their US debut, so i guess they could be one of the non-US debut bands. But i think i remember Glenn saying something about having to get a ton of people together at one time for one show and it would be cost prohibitive. But i would love to see them.

Yep, they played with Manowar, on a tour sponsored by Velveeta.

Behold the power of cheese!

Helloween played NYC in support of their last CD. They may have even done an entire tour.

Zod

That was October of 2003. They played NYC plus 7 other shows. Then they came back in January of 2004 for another 8 or 10 dates including a stop at Sayreville's Starland Ballroom.

Glenn, do those clues apply to bands that have played the Pre-Parties?

Also, can you give us any clues about the "backup plan" band?

I am guessing the backup plan has to follow those guidelines. He said that if something changed we won't even know which means its gotta fit in.

They performed the halftime entertainment at a Vikings/Lions game last year. I think only about 30 people showed up for that game, which would be consistient with SwordLord's observation.

C'mon now! The Vikes have been selling out every home game for many years now. I can't speak for Ford Field, I suppose ;)

Pyramaze played SwordLord's Minnesota Metal Fest in Minneapolis back in April 2004 (not 100% on the date).
