Stained Class is better than any other (traditional) Metal album that I can think of, which its combination of moods, effective guitar playing, relevant and robust lead work, and fitting and well though out lyrics. It's mainly because of this album that I prefer Priest to Maiden and Sabbath (though it fluctuates between Priest and Sabbath).

I'm not really arguing as I love Stained Class (although I think it is bettered by several a traditional British metal album), I just love the way you evaluate the lead work as "relevant".

As if they were in the studio and the producer said "that was a great take Glen, but I think you could play that with more relevance". Then KK chimes in, "yeah, and it's probably worth making it more robust".

Great album anyway.

Obviously "relevant" was refering to the way that it meshes into the song as a cohesive whole instead of an interlude.

Didn't you just start listening to them a month ago? :|

I was listening to cathedral before you signed up. Not to long but long enough I know their disco.

Black Sabbath was the most influential, followed by Maiden and Priest. But my favorite British bands are Bolt Thrower, Man Must Die, and Esoteric. My answer would be Mourning Beloveth, if you count Ireland.

It has to be Sabbath because the have done so much for the metal genre in England and through out the world, but my personal favorite band is Carcass.

Sabbath because
a. Their contribution to the whole metal scene as well as music on a general level.
b. I haven't heard of all the bands listed here so I had a smaller pool to pick from.
