For all black-metal lovers, I would highly recommend this book: [ame="http://www.amazon.com/Lords-Chaos-Bloody-Satanic-Underground/dp/0922915946/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1287363099&sr=8-1"]Lords of Chaos: The Bloody Rise of the Satanic Metal Underground New Edition[/ame]

It's so dark and interesting. Check it out!

I have that book. The whole history of Mayhem, Euronymous/Vikernes is interesting but the book loses direction after a while especially when it goes into all the Nazi BS. A lot of it is very sensationalised. Some cool pictures in it from when the Norwegion scene was in its infancy.

I'm not a great fan of black metal but there are many good bands there that deserve a listen. I love the euro/scandinavian atmosphere feeling and melodies...

I prefer BM rather than the US Metalcore/Crabcore and Shitcore bands.

too bad quite a bit of that is exaggerated and flat out lies.

Well, there's always two sides to every story. Of course I'm sure these stories are exaggerated a bit to make them more interesting. I'm sure a lot of them come from a media perspective as well and from an outsider's point of view. I'm sure if you were directly involved in the black metal scene you have a much different perspective. That being said, I thoroughly enjoyed the book for what it is. I'm not a black metal scholar, nor do I care to be, so it was merely for entertainment and not for factual historical study. Take it for what it is. :Spin:

Yeah, i love black metal!

No actually, but it was brilliant!

But to be serious for a minute i used to listen to black metal(Burzum, Mayhem, Immortal, Satyricon, Gorgoroth etc.), but now days i cant stand it.. its even worse then punk to me.
But i do enjoy the "untrue" black metal bands.. you know, the symphonic ones. ;)

theres PLENTY of good black metal nowadays.

just to give some examples, Deathspell Omega and Cobalt.
