The Black Metal Thread

if dso and cobalt aren't good i'd like to see what is good to you cos apparently you're deaf.

on a side note, both the new krieg and the new woe records are amazing.

wow havin' a bad day nicky?

I just wanted to say thanks to this thread I have been nonstop tormenting my wife with constant repetition of Immortal, mayhem and Gorgoroth at home and it doesn't seem like it will stop for a while.

This thread made me remember how much I loved Immortal when I was in Highschool, one of the first metal bands I got into. I can't believe Sons of Northern Darkness came out in 2002, 8 years ago! Man that album is so fucking incredible, and At The Heart of Winter was dug up from the small corner of my heart it has occupied all these years. I am nostalgic on black metal.

I'm also looking into the bands mentioned here that I don't know, awesome stuff!

At the heart of winter is by far my favorite, such an awesome record.

Anyone who has not checked out "Ad Majorem Sathanas Gloriam" needs to, right now.

If you like Dso then you owe it to yourself to check out their ep's and splits

Cool to see people talking about Cobalt too. I really love working with those guys. I posted some of theit stuff on here a few years ago and couldn't get the time of day.

Another band I work with that I think is way underrated, or at least not as well known as they should be, is Nightbringer.

I just got this in the post yesterday, it is the first blind purchase of a record for a very long time.
I'm still absorbing it atm, but its sounds pretty cool so far.

Primordial are not a black metal band. The first album Imrama had elements of black metal, but they are not black metal, nor do they class themselves as such. They'd fall into the Pagan bracket more than anything else.

Oh now you gotta go and put rules n shit on it. pffffffff

Don't have time to read the whole thread right now but check out Wolves in the Throne Room. Sorry if they have been mentioned already.

Already mentioned but don't be sorry, killer band indeed

Hahaha yeah for god's sake, it's not black metal it's pagan-ish early black metal progressively influenced death metal. Oh and it's not death metal either. Give us a break hahaha

Damn right. There's nothing remotely grim or necro about Primordial. They don't have traditional Black Metal aesthetics nor are they satanic. Hence they are not Black Metal. Get it right

Ok so I'm assuming everyone here loves dissection?! (If you don't, you have zero taste, and are more than likely too deaf to be an ae, so gtfo)

I just found this song written by John Zwetsloot, and promptly shat myself, you should prepare to do the same........
