The Children Of Bodom Gear Thread

yep, me. Not that similar to J50BC...more like a S&D JB. Definitely more gain that J50BC.

thanks:) the j50BC is really hard to find for me now...
is there any pickup very similar to the J50BC which i can substitute
for J50BC ? (because I have never used the J50BC) thanks...

The S&D SH5 Custom, that came with my Jackson Stars, sounded much better in it (alder body) than it does now in poplar body.

I too changed around J50BCs in my two Jacksons yesterday. One sounded better than the other and I was wondering if it is the woods or the pickup itself. Will try it thoroughly today.

You might wanna add "Guitar Heroes" on other appearances.

In this vid^ it looks like he uses some kind of Krank preamp. Don't know wich, b/c I'm not much of a krank guy, but I looked the "Krankenstein" up, and it looked very similar. But I don't know.

LOL WUT? Really? My fav tone since he plays ESP is the Namm jam tone, it rocks so fucking hard!

I like that one too, but I think I like this one even better. I'm weird like that.

Never figured out he used the HZ there. The tone he had with the HZ on AYDY sucked big hairy donkey balls, especially live.

I've become a mail about the gear section on Sob and the guy told me, that some things seems to be wrong and he added a few other things... it's hard to proof what he told me, so if anyone can check the following things and tell me if all of those things are correct would be pretty cool.

"...hi, i noticed a few mistakes in the "alexi's gear"
section of the site. seeing as how your trying to get
the most accurate info, i thought it was necessary to
point them out.(sorry if in fact i made mistakes and
you were correct.)

in no particular order-

it shows that alexi used a kerry king marshall for the
recording of blooddrunk. while true, in an interview
with guitarworld he stated that he used it in
conjunction with his GP-1000. also to be noted he uses
a boss SD-1 to boost the kerry king,i noticed this
from studio shots, as well as when i saw them live on
gigantour.this leaves me to believe that he uses the
the kerry king with "the beast" section off and boosts
it with the SD-1.

i noticed that the RSP 2400 was not included in the
the different rigs. i'm not sure when he started using
it, but it has definently been in his rig since AYDY.
it is in his active signal chain.

it should be noted that he hasn't used the rocktron
intellifex to alter his sound in quite sometime, he
use to use it for chorus on a few solos (which ones
i'm not sure) but now it is just used to split the
signal from his GP-1000 to his VHT poweramp.

in videos of children of bodom playing the Milwaukee
Metalfest in 2000 it appears that alexi was using a
5150.

it is listed that at tuska 2003 that alexi used his
GP-1000 and a peavey 50/50. although i'm going
completely on assumption, i think he was using his
PSA-1. i say this because at the beginning of
sixpounder he appears to be stepping on a footswitch,
the lee jackson is not programmable, the PSA-1
is...that it how i came to that conclusion...which
could very well be wrong.

the proper name for the cabinents he uses are 1960B,
they are loaded with celestion vintage 30's.

thats all that i've noticed at this time.

i'm just wondering where the info came for some of the
rigs, more so the earlier ones. not insulting the
source, just curious how the info was gotten.

sorry if i'm worng on any of these, and feel free to
correct me so i will be better educated."

The only thing I have to point out is that marshall 1960B amps DO NOT have the vintage 30 celestions speakers. They have the 75 watt ones. The 1960BV (hence the V) have the vintage 30 celestions. I would know since I have both a 1960B and 1960BV Marshall cabinets

Do you spot the SD-1 lying around on the floor? No MM-04 booster...only SD-1+Blackouts.

It's not the only appearances of SD-1...they were way before the KK stuff became used by him. Passage to the reaper has one if i remember right,Guitar heroes recording session has one and im pretty sure ive seen it on some live vids also.

Just wondering myself about that stuff now...

On the matter of Henkka's basses, I noticed watching Blooddrunk studio sessions photos that Henkka seems to have another ESP (appart from the Araya shaped one, the Viper and the 5 strings green one) bass wich seems to me the ESP Anniversary bass that was released last year or so. Check it out yourselves, is behind the Araya shaped one.

Btw... does Alexi have a new guitar?!? Or is this his limited FIN guitar? It looks like that their is this 12th fret Alexi-Inlay but this guitar has yellow pin stripes...

didnt know he used so much effects.
at 7:40 and 7:43 you can see him stepping twice on a pedal in tuska2003 vid
during the intro of children of bodom
i don't hear any effect actually
