The -core thread

I thought I was the only Patton fan on here! \m/

Patton is like some weird sex thing... you know there's a lot more people than just you who are into it, but you can never tell by looking at them. And few people seem to want to admit it, but you know everyone sings along to 'Epic' on the radio, just like everyone, ehhh, 'works the gear' but won't talk about it.

Hehe.... "Our children are being exposed to this obscene Mike Patton smut and nobody will do anything about it! Won't somebody think of the children?"

:Spin: :Spin: :Spin: :Spin: :Spin:

It's not that...I'm pretty sure Pyrus hates Mike Patton with a passion, as do many other UMers.

I don't think he's a genius or anything, but he is very, very, good. And pretty weird.

Really? I'd say the guy's like the second coming of Christ. Which would mean John Zorn is God, I guess.

Hail Patton, whatever the hell he's on about.

(I'm going to have to do 'The -patton Thread' next, I'm kinda missing the abuse from idiots.)

Whoa, whoa, whoa! Maldoror was a Patton/Merzbow collaboration?

*searches furiously*

@VVVVV, you might also like Patton's first solo album, if just for the song titles.

Indeed it was. From allmusic.com:

"Faith No More/Mr. Bungle singer Mike Patton and noise manipulator Masami Akita of Merzbow collaborated under the name Maldoror, blending the extreme vocals Patton displayed on his solo albums for John Zorn's Tzadik label and Akita's intense sonics. Maldoror's debut She was released in 1999 on Patton's Ipecac label."

And yeah his solo project is weird.

Exactly what I said when I heard about it. It's brill, BTW. One of Patton's better non-Zorn collaborations.

BURST = Late 90's-style noisecore, kinda.

Indeed. Masami touches things and turns them to platinum.

I don't really like Patton myself, I kinda ejoyed Kaada & Patton - Romance, didn't like Tomahawk that much, Fantomas either. But I liked what he did with tDEP

Well you started the thread, got any new recommendations?

The -core album that's been dominating my stereo recently is 'The Ruin of Nova Roma' by Taint, they don't try to be too intense or crazy but rather settle for producing an incredibly consistent and well-executed blend of hardcore and metal with a real capacity to ROCK when the need arises.

The new Burst is also very badass.

Edit: Reading over the thread it looks like JP got owned pretty hard as well.

I find it quite refreshing listening to some metal.
Its always going to be there for the young "heartbroken girls" so just get on with it.
