The Devin Townsend's Supercrush protools session inspired me

So I tried similiar approach just to try how hard it was... It's not the same thing, but this kind stuff actually wasn't that hard in my opinion and it was also kinda cool. You just layer a lot of small stuff and turn them down so that you can barely hear them (and most people won't, unless they really focus). I didn't go all nutjob with this one yet and this one is pretty minimal, it has something like 4 guitars, a bass and 7 midi patches.

I mentioned in one of the DT threads that the layering concept isn't that difficult, writing the structure to have layers that sound good is the hardest part, understanding the dynamics of the song is also a huge important part, but when you know which parts to punch and which to back off, and which layers have a more in your face or a more reserved its pretty simple.

I've got the Kore player dude! This clip was pretty cool! I don't normally like synths in my metal but this was cool dude.

You would be surprised how much the synths are used in metal. For example even Lamb of God's Sacrament has some synths in the background, really quiet tho (you can hear them on the producer pack multitracks)

I've got the Sacrament Producer pack and was blown away by all the cheap sounding weird synth parts in the songs, as well as all the strange overly compressed backup vocals.. one thing i noticed the most is how obviously cut up the bass tracks were and how some of the guitar tracks were sloppily doubled.. sorry to get off topic though :)

from where can this producer pack be found?

(fucking hell I hate the search function of this forum.... I have like 6 search keywords in there, and still "your fucking word was too short you dickhead." from words like "of" and "god" in between the longer words. Doesn't make any sense)

WTF?!?! Lamb Of God cut up their bass tracks?!?! I thought I was the only one!:kickass:

Thats fucking ridiculous, I rather like the album, but I had no idea that they would even need to do something like that. When I cut stuff, Its only if I have played the whole song and half way through, there is one note that is too fast or slow, but for whole songs, on every few notes, thats really taking the piss! They are all good players! Whats the point? why not just redo the the track instead of cutting it up?
