The Devin Townsend's Supercrush protools session inspired me

To all of you that requested the vid, here it is. A simple search on youtube would've sufficed, though:

I am listening to Supercrush for the first time as I type this reply. I was never into Devin Townsend's stuff, never really liked anything from him, but after watching his session and after watching the video where he records vocals for this song, it kind of stuck in me, so here I am giving it a god. Sounds pretty good. I might grab the album later.

Concerning ahjteam, I agree that the hardest part is writing the stuff to make it sound good altogether, but you probably know that. To me your mix sounds like it's got drums, guitars, bass and no more than 3 synth tracks at most, but hey, Supercrush doesn't sound like it had 20 synth tracks either, so who cares? It's when one likes a song a lot and keeps listening to it when one finds out there's some small thing playing in background that just makes it even better. I'd rather not force people to notice it, though.

Yeah, that was just a test, might be getting more indepth on that, but when talking about layering, I really have to mention my ex-roommate. He is an electronic music producer and owns a record label, and I played some simple guitar stuff for a few of his songs (I noticed that he released one of them for free today) and oh boy, those were layered as fuck, Devin is nothing compared to what he did... Like for example he did a 5.1 surround mix of one song (you can listen the stereo version for free here, its the "DJ RX feat Joanna Similä - My Serenity"). The thing is that it sounds simple and all, but it has over 140 layers tracks of stuff. I remember him cursing when the projects initial startup took more than 3 minutes and when it usually froze his computer :D
