The EDM Thread

Hmm, fair enough. It's just I don't like to dance sober. Normally I'd have a DD with me.

EDIT: no homo

Hmm I'm still waiting on confirmation from one homie in regards to Bayer, but I might make it. Tickets are still available for 20 bucks though, so I guess I'm lucky. Thought it would be sold out by now.

Nice, I saw Above and Beyond in Miami back in March, but they aren't really my style. They have interesting visuals though. A lot of crowd interaction too. The dude that opened for them tho, Beckwith, who makes a ton of shit for their Anjunadeep label, was the real hero of the night. The man is a legend when it comes to deep basslines (have you heard Craymal? Total subwoofer killer). One of the best sets I've ever seen. Too bad no one cared about him hah. Just had like the 1/3 of the club dancing to his set.

Yeah I wouldve thought so as well.

I dont know who Beckwith is but I love pretty much everything I hear on Anjunadeep. I just listened to that song, and its groovy as fuck. Very 90's lol

Above & Beyond are an acquired taste for people not into Trance especially Vocal Trance. Their songs can be a little too emotional, but I think theyve brought some really beautiful songs into the world and I expect nothing less from their new album coming out.

Went to Hard Day of The Dead in LA, last weekend.

Mostly garbage DJ's, garbage people, and the venue was absolute dog shit. Was standing in mud for 1 of the sets I saw. Mainly went for Pretty Lights and Eric Prydz/Deadmau5 and neither disappointed.

Prydz and Deadmau5 were supposed to have a 3 hour set when Hard announced lineups...But when they put the set times up, it was only 1:45...Few days before the show they bumped it to 2:00...Pissed about that because their synergy together was fucking incredible and having the fest end at 11, was an absolute joke. And a cruel one. Also took us 2 hours to get out of the parking lot...

Pretty Lights destroyed it. Mainly him on decks which is what I wasnt expecting because it said he was going to be live, so I thought the band was accompanying him but he just had a scratcher and drummer play with him. So. Fucking. Good.

Wow, that Layer3 thing looks so fucking awesome.

Flying Lotus last night blew my god damn mind.

Im gonna try and create a YouTube account to post the videos I got. I had a perfect view and caught some really sick shit.

So, I'm not sure how much they qualify, and I'm new to this scene, but... is anyone a fan of The Glitch Mob?

Oh hellllll yes.

GM is hard to classify and they without-a-doubt belong in this thread. I wanted to go up to SF to see them for NYE this year, but I just dont have the funds. And LA has some decent shit goin down, so Im not missin too much.

Check out Pretty Lights, Gramatik and Break Science. Those might spark some interest, theyre along kinda similar lines.

Awesome, I'll check 'em out. Thanks!

I had the hardest time getting into electronic music until I found The Glitch Mob. They have the perfect combination of catchy hooks, complex beats, and a really awesome "swell" aesthetic. The latter element is my own description; I just mean that they have this wicked ability to create a sensation of sound swelling up beneath you as you listen. Such a great auditory experience.

Dude. Check Pretty Lights. Youre gonna love it.

Heres some easy access links to some of my favorite tracks of his:

^ This video is actually worth watching, if you want to get a decent idea of his live atmosphere.

Ive seen him twice. Once with a live band, 8+ members on stage. Horns, trumpets, drummer, bassist etc. and him on decks. That was sick. And just saw him a few months ago with a live drummer and a scratcher. Hes been around for awhile and there is no one else in the scene that throws it down like Derek Vincent Smith. Seriously.

EDIT:
Pretty Lights is actually doing the same fest as Glitch Mob I was just talking about. For whatever its worth. So is Break Science. Legit lineup.
