Not that I give two shits about this fest, and probbaly won't go even though its free ... the whole new concept intrigues me.

companies sponsor the shows, bands play free and the fest makes money off of food and merchandise.

i gotta see them pull this shit off.

can't imagine what band will afford to play this or what label will throw a band on the bill ... considering that people already mostly download this type of music anyway ... so the bands don't make money there ... now take away their touring money ... and hey ...

but at least it will be a "tr00" fest ... cause only "tr00" bands do this stuff for free. all joking aside this should open up a lot of opportunities for hungrier new bands with a van.

anxiously awaiting the lineup :loco:

This could be either a major kick in the ass that Ticketbastard desperately needs or the biggest clusterfuck of all time...guess which one I'd predict? With a likely audience of 90% mallcore kids and intrusive corporate bullshit everywhere you turn and obscene merch & food pricing, you couldn't get most of us there for free.

Sharon mentioned that they will get rid of the cheesy carnival type stuff in favor of more "high tech" displays and booths ... all probably pitching something to buy.
hey whatever ... its business afterall.

still wondering what bands will have the balls to do a 25 city trek for free?

Doesn't this mean absolutely anyone/everyone will show up if it's free attendance? It has to be first come first served, which means getting there early and then waiting in line for hours upon hours.

You would have to pay me to go to this shitfest. I took a peek at the lineup after I heard the news...free or not, it is still awful.

edit: turns out the line up I saw was last years. Gonna be a bunch of shit bands anyway so I suppose it doesn't matter.

As opposed to having to pay hundreds of thousands of dollars to be on the bill in the first place, like in previous years? It's a fact that bands like In Flames, Soilwork etc. were sponsored by Nuclear Blast or whatever record company so they could do this tour and play and hopefully gain new fans. Only the bigger bands like Maiden were actually paid.

I think they weren't allowed to set their own merch price and that Ozzfest aka Sharon and Ozzy made a large profit on other bands merch.
