The future of metal

Van Canto is the future of heavy metal.

RAKATAKATAKATAKATAKATAKATAKATAKATAKA!!

:Puke:

Avigrus: I can see that happening, if done right it actually wouldn't be too bad.

In any case, in the future, it'll be the same really. Some bands will play the old styles, though not all will be boring and stale. Just like today, some old school retro bands will be good, while others will be lifeless. In terms of progression, I can see new genres of metal including more hardcore and post fusions. One genre I would like to see would be a sort of baroque style of metal, in which the band uses metal instrumentation to create separate melodic lines in the vein of actual classical, baroque, romantic period music. I'm not talking about cheesy symphonic stuff, but stuff that could be considered classical in terms of complexity, etc. on metal instruments.

I like the idea of Middle-Eastern and certain Asian bands rising up from oppression and bringing a completely new edge on metal..

Problem is, Nile already handled business when it comes to Arabian/Egyptian (I know it's not the same but I'm being an ignorant Western honkey) sounding metal..

I don't believe metal will die out in 40 years..but maybe the creativity will :( won't stop people from listening though..just look at punk, pop, and various electronic music genres like hard house and glitchcore

RINDINALINDINALINDINALIN (Insert techno beats) DUH DUH DUH DUH.

Call me ignorant if i'm wrong but don't bands like Aborym, Blacklodge, Pavillon Rouge, etc. already use techno beats?

at the moment there's only one really new thing happening, apart from whatever Meshuggah do, and it's the heavy stoner scene built around the likes of Baroness and Taint. that's definitely, for me, a new sound. is it metal? not sure, don't care. metal, and our understanding of what that is, will be different in years to come. it has to be, because all the simple stuff is pretty tapped out. it's going to become more musical and more expansive, more ambitious.

There's also the expansion of melodic death bands into hard rock territory (In Flames, Soilwork, Dark Tranquillity to a certain extent).

And then there's the very recent expansion of Gorguts' sound with bands like Ulcerate and DsO's last full length.

And the Meshuggah thing is really old by now..

fart metal

there's already burping metal so that isnt too far off

Extremely Epic Symphonic Epic Metal. The band will consist of an actual symphony orchestra + 10 electric guitars + 4 drumsets + 3 synthesizers..... and 1 bass. The bassist is the lead vocalist and the orchestra does choir parts while the 10 guitarists do the main backup vocals. So Epicly Epic.

It's all pagan themed with a black church choir. And one chick who plays an acoustic guitar but you can't actually hear what she's doing, and she's half naked with flabby 'just had a kid' rolls'

Futuristic sound. Sybreed, and tons of industrial\experimental bands. But there will always be some heavy\death\thrash\black bands that will want to sound like the old days. Old school, modern or futuristic. I love it all, bring it on!

I think that the Neurosis formula really has room to expand. I've seen very few bands actually take it and do anything with it aside from just making a much less detailed version of Neurosis.

I think that the Eastern European folk metal scene will have much to give us in years coming, many bands from it are already gaining recognition in Kroda and Arkona in particular.

Aside from that no idea.
