The Gaming Thread

Exactly. I don't understand why people get so upset about them abandoning the 'tried and true' method with Mass Effect 2. Sure, the combat plays more like a Gears of War game than an rpg, but it still has its own separate identity, and personally I don't like relying on dice rolls for hits in an game involving guns(this is the one thing that bugged me about fallout 3 and new vegas over the glitches). The game is still very much an RPG, and on top of it they're striking some truly awesome and new ground with the imports of previous games saves to completely change the world around the player.

I still love all the classic RPG stuff, and I feel its implanted well in Dragon Age, while still toppling new ground.

It comes down to, as someone who has played RPGs a good portion of my life, I've gotten tired of applying the same overall formula to every entry in the genre, and I'm excited to see newer games break away from it, yet still having a few great games embracing it.

I agree. I was actually a little bothered by Mass Effect 2's loss of RPG elements at first but I wouldn't allow it to ruin a great game for me and ME2 turned out to be the better game in the end. I would still like to see a return the mod system though. They don't need piles of weapons or armors, I just think they should bring back mod-able slots so I can at least kind of customize how my equipment functions and change the battle experience beyond incendiary/ice rounds. Impact slugs and shit had uses and all that stuff was lost in ME2.

tried spellcaster recently and love it, almsot bought the expansion but i heard it was really easy, couldnt justify it haha

Dragon Age in general is way too fucking easy. The main reason I only played it once and won't again for a long while is because (at least as a spellcaster) I didn't die even once and I never had to actually try. It felt like the game was holding my hand even with higher difficulty settings. I kept thinking "surely it will get harder after this city" and challenge never came

I want Diablo 3 now!!!!

YES!!! Battle.net will once more fear my PvP might! I shall destroy all forumers that tread in my domain of... wherever PvP takes place. I assume D3 will have an actual PvP area or something, unlike in D2 where Act 1 camp was the unspoken dueling ground.

What spec did you go with for your spell caster? Because right now mine is quite weak but once I get a few more points in place on my desired route it should be darn near untouchable.

You must of either acquired an old x-box late in the game or were one of the few that had it last a good while before it pooped out then eh?

No i just bought an elite last year and the reader has went DOA. I got a thing of canned air and unloaded it into the Disc tray still didnt work. First is started out as an annoying grinding noise then i popped all my games on my Hard Drive, now my reader wont even read a freaking CD.

I have a bad cold in the video LOL

Were did you buy it from? It looks like one of the older elite models that was still having those annoying issues. I had to do the same with mine awhile back. Make sure you check recent games and movies you have had in it since it started with that grinding noise, as when it does such it can leave a small ring of a scratch on discs near the discs center which can actually cause a fixed drive to start doing the same thing again after reading it. It's often refereed to as "dirting" the disc. Good luck with your repairs!

I bought it from WalMart it has the HDMI port on it and it was made in 2009 they had made the boxes up to date with the last.fm Netflix and Twitter crap. and yes one my disc have that ring around the Xbox360 holographic and my COD MW2 my most played game of 2009 is cracking in the middle of the disc.

i bought both of the old ones, cant get into either

if i have nostalgia for something, ill play it forever, but i cant go back, theres newer things that are better.....in general, like how knights of the old republic is like a terrible mass effect. and by that i mean gameplay/skills/looks and overall polish. had i played KOTOR years ago, im sure i would be saying its perfect, and that newer games are crap

now im kind of rambling

i hope new deus ex is good too, it looks excellent

its awesome so far, i love the amount of depth in charecter creation. its so much more deep than most games which seem super basic (choose what he looks like, then choose warrior/thief/mage). there are so many classes and advanced classes even a shitload of races (most have advantages, but nothing that will break the game), you can literally map out a character from the start. i love the amount of weapons and armor. and as a nice touch your guy changes in appearace as he equips things...which should be a standard but i still run into games where this doesnt happen.

im not very far as it is also quite difficult at times. also my firewall thinks its a virus, and blocks it, which is bullshit, but not gamebreaking

Neverwinter nights is pretty much the little brother to Baldur's Gate. If you think NWN2 has massive character creation Baldur's Gate 2 would make your head explode(especially with expansion). Except Baldur's gate 2 is now old and since it's 2d the actual LOOK of your character is very limited.

I never cared for NWN much, I just couldn't get into it. I played NWN 1 not long after playing through Baldur's Gate 2 and as a result I found it restricting and couldn't enjoy the experience like I should have. NWN 1 also had a boring linear story in comparison to Baldur's Gate's epic scale.

I did not give NWN2 a chance because of this which was probably rather stupid on my part so let me know how it is when you get further in.

Bulletstorm actually looks like a lot of fun, I must post an actual gameplay trailer so people can see what it's about. It's an absurd crazy ass game that rewards you for finding creative ways to kick the shit out of your enemies.

Epic Games is a great studio. I still play co-op Unreal 1 to this day, it's almost in Doom's category for me.
