The Guitar Chapter - Michael Romeo

i think he is talking about the video, not the cd. The video is almost impossible to find other than ebay (from my own personal experiance) and it is a lot of money. When i get the money, i will gladly pay the price for it though!

by the way, am i the only one that thinks they should re-release the guitar chapter on DVD? Or what about an instructional video from other members of the band (lepond bass instructional for instance?? *hint hint*)

Well, I'll tell you what I did....... I downloaded the damn thing on Kazaa.... it's the only really good way of going about getting it. It took like a month to download (it's 330 MB) but that's ok because it was worth it. It's an amazing video...... but I must say..... much like Yngwie, Gilbert, or anyone else's instructional video, it's really not very instructional. It's just him showing off mostly. For instance, there's a part where he makes up a scale and then does something super insane, but he never really tells you how he made up the scale.

I agree. I'd love for it to be released on a DVD format, and i'm glad to have a copy of it, but i didn't learn much. It's great if you want to sit and be awed at Romeo's insane talent.

I agree on instructional videos generally not being very instructional; mostly it's the guitarist playing some of his stuff and that's it. Even if they do play it slower or give you a close-up there's not much to be learned from that.

actually i do have a question about the video. Since it was from japan or korea or whatever, is it in NTSC format (or whatever...) or will it not play on american VCRs??? They always seem to forget that bit of info on ebay.

It plays on American VCRs. I agree, although he plays solos slow and talks about scales, etc. all I get out of it is some good entertainment. I sit and watch and say "HOW IS HE DOING THAT? ISN'T IT AMAZING?" and realize how much I hopelessly suck as a guitar player.

hehe I guess Im the only one here that got something out of the vid besides being amazed at his chops. I started practicing a lot of the tapping stuff from the vid and now I can do just about all of it at the same tempo, if not just under, the speed he does.

I really enjoy watching it because he is just so damn good...and he makes it look so easy?! It makes me want to sell my guitar actually. MJR rules.
