The similarities are pretty far-fetched i.m.o. If this is plagiarism, then much more is. Can't imagine Coldplay even wanting to copy Satriani.

Just watch the clip. Surely it sounds similar, the notes of the melody are similar, maybe even the same, but the whole colour and feel of the song is totally different. There are MUCH more obvious cases of plagiarism.

Well, notes are still notes. If anyone wants to try that with early Heavy/Thrash/Death Metal in comparison to newer "extreme" genres you've got 500 lawsuits in 8 songs.
