I'm listening to this album right now and my initial reaction is mixed. On one hand it seems to recapture the sheer energy that De-Loused had and which I felt was missing on the two albums after that. But it also feels like the album loses steam about halfway through. I think it might have helped if they had left some material off the album altogether so that the total playtime clocked in somewhere a bit less than 75 minutes.

I had a quick listen to the first half of this today. Sounds awesome, very much a return to form.

Yeah, this thing is a beast at 75 minutes. Incredible how brilliant they are as musicians. Their controlled chaos is what makes them unusual an interesting. It seems at times I hear a "Santana" type jam occur, and then they bounce off to God knows where.

Someone I know raves about them. I dig a couple tracks. I might check it out.
