The "Mike's Growls" thread?

Hey guys, I hope this isn't seen as resurrecting a dead thread since it's been a few weeks since this was last responded to.

I was just recently asked to cover the first few minutes of "Master's Apprentice" for a guy here that wanted to hear what I can do I guess. I dunno I thought it would be fun so I did. I think I managed to touch a little bit on what Mikael does for his vocal style. I'd never tried his style before, but I'm pretty happy with it. You'll have to excuse the quality being a little subpar, I'm no producer. Anywho the original vox are about 95% removed. What do you folks think? Got the right idea or nay?

Wow, nice work mate!

Yesterday I was working on my growling and finally made a bit of progress, as before my technique was so shit I was just killing my throat. Now I can do it without my throat getting raw, the only thing is; when I growl for long periods of time, or with certain vowel sounds that I try to announciate, I get an aching in the muscle underneath my tongue. It's really hard to explain, but basically, if you press the underside of your jaw, that's the bit I'm talking about. Any ideas why this is? Any help would be immensely appreciated. Thanks

I've actually never heard of that particular problem... I don't think it's using the throat to much since growling from the throat hurts further back. Almsot sounds like you are tensing up too much or something

Great work!
Very decipherable, guttural growl, I like it!
