The new pic thread

It is already almost as big as the Empire State so it should be seen in the skyline without a problem.

KC: I don't remember exactly, but I know that when it's done it will be the second tallest building in New york, after the Empire State.

Hiljie: As long as you don't wander too close to the edges, the lack of rails wouldn't be half the issue that would be the series of ladders, tied together with rope, that swayed back an forth and side to side as you climbed up or down

DoC: Where in the skyline is it? Well, put away your wikipedia and your 3D pop-up book of coloring and skylines. I think we can work through this..
You can see south Manhattan (the financial district and the Statue of Liberty); and you can see the Empire S. Building right in front of that view; also, you can see that there are no other tall buildings directly between the Empire State and the tower I was standing on; meaning, my Jersey friend, that the Bank of America tower would be the next building just north (left, for you) of the Empire State, which I'm sure you can distinguish from your dorm window

EDIT: I was too lazy to upload more pictures. You can see the view to the south. To the east, you can see the Chrysler building, the East River with some islands and bridges, and Queens and Long Island. To the north, you can see Central Park and uptown, as well as the broadening of the Hudson River. To the west ..ehh, just Jersey City, and I guess DisplayofCharacter's crappy town and university :p

HAHAHA I fail! I'm actually northwest of manhattan, not southwest. That assumption was critical, because I looked at both nighttime and daytime, and it seems that the Empire State (which, as you stated, I can immediately recognize) is obscuring the tower from my direction. As you said it should be the tallest building in the immediate vicinity but I still only see the empire.
I would imagine this changes things. I might just PM you instead of filling the thread with drivel.

Also, my university is pretty good, I think. :p

DoC: I guess that would put everything convoluted in the skyline, with the Empire State rising behind it all.
Keep in mind it isn't complete yet, so it probably doesn't look much like a "tower" now.
EDIT: This is what it's supposed to look like when finished:

Do you see the slanted edge right below the antenna? That's what that large diagonal beam, cutting in front of my picture, will be for :)

That makes no sense, bro..
Look at the picture, that would put you in Brooklyn, ..southeast of Manhattan.

*palmface*

I am positive I am northwest of Manhattan though. I double checked, on two different maps. The view I have is almost perpendicular to the island. The view as I see it has to my far right is a bridge, then the empire state, then more to the left of center is a cluster F of buildings I assume to be central NYC, then things sort of tail off... I think I'm probably just looking at the wrong things. I'm good with directions but suck at physical relationships... Still, awesome man. I read up on the building, that thing should be great upon completion, as long as all the proposed ecosystem works. Even if not, it still looks cool.

I changed my post while you replied because depending on how "north" northwest of the island you are, your view of it might be obscured in the sense that it may be roughly in front of the Emp. S.
But now.. if you say your view is perpendicular to the island after all, then I don't know, man.. You're on your own with this.

I knew it. I really am awesome enough for two ultimate metal members.

Then I guess I will try to get down 20 more kilos so I will weigh 50 kilogramms. If something happens to me I will tell everyone you are responsible.

"A guy with a black sock on his face and yellow eyes told me to do it. Like, seriously! What, you don't believe me?!?"

Your talking nonsense. If he had a black sock on his face you couldn't have seen his eyes.

Oh, now I understand. When you said face you meant penis. So someone with yellow eyes and a black sock on his penis told you to do it. I have experienced the same several times. I believe you.

:danceboy: (You have missed him, haven't you?)

Ho ho ho, indeed.

I can imagine how jolly was the show. How did the crowd react? Did they dance or mosh? Cause when you're facing Santa, you better be a good kid.

So, I got my first tattoo on Wednesday. It did sting and I must say that after the mere 1h15 minutes (not very long for a tattooing session) I did feel a bit dizzy me being high on self-produced endorphins and adrenalin and low on sugar...

All in all, the result is beautiful, taken from an original abstract drawing a friend of mine did for me and inked on my chest by a very friendly italian-turkish-canadian lady.

It didn't start to peel like crazy yet and here's what it looks like:
