Rahvin my man its really not so much a matter of saving money. Its more of a matter of not making enough 
. I cant get more ours b/c of school, and I have bills I have to pay and such. Im a forager, I think I could live off the land, plus Italian relatives could take me in , or maybe Polish ones

There really isnt anything to do . I dont have anything important that has monetary value, and my virginity was sold 6 years ago . The new line of work would be difficult, there really arent many decent paying available jobs here in Chicago at this time. See what I get for going to school? I cant make enough money to do the things I want .Nick

@nick: perhaps you might want to search for flight discounts before giving up, i've just found very cheap offers for flights to europe: like chicago-frankfurt for $297... you could jump on a ryanair there, and get to finland for a few bucks

Funny you should mention that, I spent the last three days straight home sick and looking into getting a couple of Eurail passes to get me around while I'm over there... confusing as all shit, but once I finally settled on what I thought was the best option (though it still takes a significant bite out of my budget ) One of the friends I'm staying with puts a whole confusing pile of airline options in front of me, namely ryanair.
Now I have to start again. *Sigh* And not that I'm complaining (much) but that savings are so ludicrious the whole 'juggling connections' things won't be that big an issue 'relatively speaking', but I DO have to make a decision before I leave though. (Can't buy Eurail tickets once in Europe supposedly).
Was looking at getting 2 'SelectPass (3 Country) Youth Pass (5 Days in two months)' @ $250USD a pop. Would use one to hop from Finland Leipzig in Germany and from there either back to Finland or Straight onto Malmo in Sweden (nearest rail system gets to Solvesborg where festival is), and from there back to Finland for a month or two. 2nd trip would be From Finland to Hamburg and on to see Wacken, then on to Utretch in Netherlands to see SummerDarkness, then back to Finland again.
Of course inbetween all that I'd fit in a little time for Tuska.
Pity the two BIG gigs I wanna see are just over 2 months apart though, when all the 'flexipasses' on offer expire two months after you first use 'em. *Sigh*

well, the only option for finland from ryanair is frankfurt-tampere, or london-tampere, which means that you're not even going to land in helsinki, let alone leipzig. i don't know what are your interests in finland aside from tuska (hell, i don't even know what are mine by now! ), but maybe you should consider if it's really worth it to save some money on plane tickets and stress yourself out squeezing out more bucks on the country's railroad network.

Like I said, all the flights are so ludicrously cheap that even if I hopped around half a dozen times, I'd still be better off (financially at least, and possibly time wise as well). Like I said, this is all new news to me, so it's something I'll have to look into.
