The send the big, sexy, Chicago guy to Tuska thread

I don't know what are your interests in finland aside from tuska (hell, i don't even know what are mine by now! ;)),
meeting fireangel? :p

hello to ouga, once again :)

Delirious: I don´t understand the issue about making friends go with you. At least you can be sure to meet fellow UM-ers there anyhow.
But maybe it´s only me, I long ago gave up convincing anyone for coming where I go to. I just go. When someone I ask, wants to come with me, I appreciate and like it (it´s not that I would be that cool, and some concerts are definitely greater with friends), but if no-one has interest in the bands or money or other reasons, I don´t wait for them and be at home instead.

but maybe you should consider if it's really worth it to save some money on plane tickets and stress yourself out squeezing out more bucks on the country's railroad network.

Tampere - Helsinki by train ist 20€ plus that ~5€ to get to rail road station from the airport... That against not seeing the beautiful landscape we have in here and paying shitloads more money on the flight to Helsinki... Well, whatever floats your boat...

i was under the impression spike meant to get to helsinki from abroad more than once (but maybe i was wrong), which would probably have made for increased expenses and a rather persistent déja-vu while looking out of the window. ;)
it's weird, most finns are quite dismissive when someone mentions to them their beautiful landscape. i thought it was because they were pretty much used to it by now, but it's nice to know there's some who still let themselves be surprised. :)

Or then you are just mentioning the wrong landscape. There's really no beautiful landscape south from Jyväskylä in Finland. Here, at Kainuu, on the other hand... :Smug:

Oh, and I definitely want to meet you all at Tuska. I'll take the train to get to Helsinki so that I don't need to drive my car there (I simply hate driving inside Helsinki).

you teach me, my master, and i shall learn. all my former mentors betrayed me.

that you and i never met is a shame that screams out to the skies, villain, but we'll put an end to it soon! :)

Yeah, we'll wipe that stain of shame away at Tuska this year - unless you are coming to my sweet norderland before that..? :D

fireangel: making issues out of things that really aren´t issues is one of my major talents :)

but you´re right (as always ;) ) and I probably will go even if I´ll have to go alone and just hope for a big DT board camp (oh sweet utopia!) somewhere :)

about going to concerts alone, I really see it as an emergency solution. I´ve never had to entirely so far, but it´s been close a couple of times (i.e. more or less accidently meeting people I know at the place), and I just find it... well... a lot less fun.

rahvin: aww, I´ve always dreamt of being on someone´s gayish pink list. :)

rahvin and anja are kinda sure-fire things methinks. i'm also going to take care of all you beautiful people's organization when it comes to everything dark tranquillity-related, so start trembling with fear when i give the signal.

i hope ben is coming too. dunno about the rest, i guess we'll find more um-ers later on...
oki, nice :p see you there

haha you know i couldn't forget about you :p you coming here goes without saying, that's why i didn't mention it

ouaga (oh, haven´t seen that first a before. now it´s not only hilarious, it´s impossible to pronounce as well ) : delirious is. he hopes. he really hopes. money is no issue and project: get friend(s) to come along doesn´t look all pitch black.
haha fun name, isn't it :p well people call me ouga (without the "a") anyway :p and cool, see you at Tuska

@mousie: think about it seriously. we're gonna have perfect ultimatemetal forum members organization and it's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. yeah, and there are hot guys too. :p
Hot Scandinavian metal guys.... *drool* That's why I wanna go. Also to meet the board members. but unless Nick is going to take me there, I can't go cause I don't have enough $$$.
rahvin said:
if you need to make more money you can either sell something very important to you, such as your virginity
I can do that. In fact I'm doing that right now in a way... but only for hot metal guys.

Any hot Scandinavian death metal or black metal guys who want to marry me and take me to Tuska can have my virginity. I'll make a good wife and promise I won't run off. :D

oh, I did not mean bad :( I just have a talent to write plain and direct. Sometimes that is appreciated (or feared *hehe*) and sometimes I really wish I kept my mouth shut :erk:
Apart from that, I am great in making issues, too (like: OMG what could I say if I would really meet *insert member of favourite bands here*.... :yell:

:Spin:  thanks

It really seems there will be a huge DT-camp, so don´t you worry. Also some other thing is, when you are "forced" to go alone, you rather meet new people because you are not tempted to be with your friends all the time.

yes yes. Also true. I was more in that direction of: not seeing *favourite band* or going alone. So being at home and thinking what you miss would be the least fun of all, then I better see Katatonia (like last year) on my own than not at all. That way.

Does a not so hot and shorthaired metal guy fit the description? ;)

Uh oh, I'm getting the Tuska/travelling bug. :erk: :) I will technically have the money and the time, and even a place to stay...I'm just nervous about travelling alone... :erk:

@nick: i'm not sure where i'll be staying, too many options spring to mind. chances are though that i'll spend most of my time with um people anyway, so delirious' idea of a huge big forum camp seems to be a rather viable one...

@lina: yes, yes, yes. you'd only be alone for the duration of the flight: i shall personally arrange a delegation of representatives to escort you from any airport to the festival area and back again!
