The Nintendo 64 Appreciation Thread

Where to begin? The N64 is by far the most underrated system of all time.

I believe you're forgetting a little system called the Dreamcast. :ill:

But I love(d) N64, MUCH better than PlayStation, which I only really played Syphon Filter and Metal Gear Solid on anyway. Perfect Dark and Goldeneye are timeless classics that define the N64. Hell, with those 2 games alone, I've spent probably around 200 hours with both of them. N64 could've had more games, but it was expensive and hard to develop for. I remember my friend's horror stories of spending $70-$75 for WCW Vs NWO World Tour and Mario Kart 64 when the console launched. N64 was also home to one of my favorite Star Wars games ever, Shadows of the Empire :worship:

Now if only the GameCube was as good as the N64...

Dreamcast was a great underrated system as well, not as much as the N64 though which always takes a lot of bullshit flak.

i remember on christmas eve of 96 someone wanted to sell me a used star wars shadows of the empire for $100

Dreamcast was awesome. I spent numerous hours playing Phantasy Star online alone. Not to mention Crazy Taxi and Virtua Tennis. It was just a victim of being released too long before the next generation of systems (xbox, ps2, GC) and by that time the graphics were already way too outdated to contend. That and Sega was already in a hole from releasing about 300 systems in a 5 year span :p

But 64 was amazing. I played Goldeneneye til I mastered it with all the cheats and every level beat on every difficulty (I still remember trying to be aztec temple on the hardest setting, prolly played for a good 8 hours straight). Than games like Perfect Dark and the whole THQ/AKI wrestling game series were my most played games, my friends and I still play No Mercy. Anyone else play Quest 64? I thought it was pretty good, great graphics and a pretty expansive (albeit linear) world.

The Legend of Zelda : The Ocarnia of Time was one of the reason why i brought the N64. Great graphics, superb gameplay, neat controls and an excellent plot, it was like the best game on N64.
