Lots of discussion at work when we found out the next Harry Potter film isn't coming out 'til summer '09. I think management were caught on the hop cause it was meant to be one of the major films for the Xmas period and we'd started to plan the in cinema promotions for it.
Is anyone planning to see 'Star Wars: The Clone Wars'? I might try and see it before work on Monday.

Thinking about watching 'The Duchess' as it's an interesting story . I remember watching a really good documentary on the Duchess of Devonshire way back when Princess Diana died. The only trouble is: can I make myself sit through a film starring Keira Knightley? I'm not sure I can actually stomach her for 1.5 hours plus.
I'm a bit undecided about watching RockaRolla but I may end up catching that as well. I'm not a big fan of Guy Ritchie to be honest but I didn't mind 'Snatch'. Is it just me but his films are a bit too similar for me to enjoy them.
On the DVD front I finally got to watch 'Perfume' which I enjoyed a lot and 'Michael Collins' which I need to finish watching when I next have a day off.

Finally watched the Bourne Ultimatum the other night... I loved the first two but this one blew them both away. If you hadnt seen the first 2 (or read Ludlum) I imagine it would make no sense whatsoever, as it just dives right in without laying down any explanation at all. The viewer must therefore do some homework beforehand... but man is it worth it! (...but geez, poor Nicki always gets shafted!)
Also just saw Tristan & Isolde on tv, I remember it getting terrible reviews but I enjoyed it quite a bit. I can see where people would find flaws with it, but it had this delicious sense of grey melancholy and hopelessness that was so nummy it made up for any shortcoming.

Yeah I love that film as well. I remember being quite disappointed we didn't get it at work so I ended up watching it on one of the senior screens and having to sit right at the front. I must try and rewatch it.
I didn't think I'd like 'The Bourne Ultimatum ' but I watched it and it was excellent. Great action movie.

I finally got Netflix and have been catching up on movies T_T
The Last Mimzy was better than I thought it would be but Escape to Witch Mountain still beats it ;p

Yes but Teleute, if you read the books thread Zellie says that she couldn't get into the book how that is possible is absolutely beyond me because I love love love it. I was quite happy with the movie as well the movies are never as good as the books, but I still really enjoyed it and probably watch it on an almost weekly basis.

Recently watched 'Easy Virtue' with Jessica Biel, Colin Firth and Ben Barnes. A very odd film. I think it couldn't decide whether it wanted to be a comedy (which worked) or a melodrama (which it didn't IMHO)
Since I've won NaNo this year I'm watching 'Zack and Miri make a Porno' on Friday and going for a meal as my little reward to myself.

Watched a couple of films last week: 'Quantum of Solace' and 'Body of Lies'. I don't know if I really liked 'Quantum of Solace'. I was a bit disappointed that we never found out what 'Quantum' was.
I really liked 'Body of Lies' although I didn't like Russell Crowe in it. I was very impressed by Leo di Caprio (who I used to despise) and Mark Strong was excellent.
I'm going to see 'Changeling' either tomorrow or Wednesday although I suspect I will get very upset. I was watching the ending yesterday at work on floor and I was practically crying which was a bit embarrassing. I had to pretend I had something in my eye. (Lame , I know!)
I may end up watching the 'Twilight' movie just to see how much of a trainwreck it is. Plus the fact I don't have to pay to get in, I might as well.

I'm off for a couple of days so I watched 'Barry Lyndon' on DVD when I couldn't sleep. What an amazing film. It was so good I would have watched it again if it wasn't for the fact that it was nearly three hours long and it was practically morning by the time it finished.
Tonight I may watch 'Sense and Sensibility' and 'Casanova' before bed. I'm on a bit of a historical drama kick at the moment.
I'm off for a couple of days so I watched 'Barry Lyndon' on DVD when I couldn't sleep. What an amazing film. It was so good I would have watched it again if it wasn't for the fact that it was nearly three hours long and it was practically morning by the time it finished.

I watched 'Twilight' and ' The Tale of Despereaux' at work. I enjoyed 'Despereaux': it was a cute little tale.
As for 'Twilight' well, I don't know. I wasn't a great fan of the books really, I just wanted to see how it would come across on film. Bella was just as irritating as she was in the books, if not more. Edward was fine, but to me he came across as controlling and a bit of a stalker frankly. The first night was a bit much: wall to wall Edward Cullen fangirls squealing. Personally I can't see the appeal (apart from the obvious 'Rob Pattinson has not been hit by the Minger Stick' thing)
And yes: the Sparkles were every bit as bad as I thought they would be. Vampires do not sparkle!

Watched 'Valkyrie' which I really enjoyed even though I did have some issues with Tom Cruise and his portrayal of von Stauffenberg. Not least because his refusal to modify his accent to fit in with the rest of the cast made him stick out like a sore thumb. Would it really have been so hard to attempt some kind of accent? You're meant to be a German officer! Even if he tried to fit in with the rest of the cast. Everyone else was very good though and it was enjoyable.
Haven't seen 'Revolutionary Road' yet or 'Slumdog Milionaire' yet. I'm off for my birthday so maybe I'll try and watch them then. As I haven't been well lately, I've also watched 'La Reine Margot' at home on DVD and 'Charles II: The Power and the Passion' which was a bit strange but on the whole I liked it.
Haven't seen 'Revolutionary Road' yet or 'Slumdog Milionaire' yet. I'm off for my birthday so maybe I'll try and watch them then. Watched a couple of films on DVD. At the moment I'm checking out a lot of foreign films which I've really enjoyed. I got 'Downfall' and 'Stalingrad', both of which are amazing. I was bawling at the end of 'Stalingrad' it was that powerful. Even though the English version of the film was DUBBED which really got my goat. Why? There wasn't even a option to watch it in the original language with subtitles , which would have been so much better. In this day and age , there is no excuse for it frankly. Now I really want to watch 'Immortal (ad vitam)', but I don't want to end up with a dubbed version!
I also watched 'Mesmer' as part of my trawl through Alan Rickman's back catalogue, which was a very odd film. It was all about this guy in 18th century Vienna who tried to heal people and he got involved with this blind pianist. To be honest , I think I may have to watch it again , as I don't think I really got it. Alan was good though.
What else have I been watching at home? I got the King Kong Extended 3 disc edition , so that's taking a while to get through. I never did see it in the cinema, which is a shame.
Work is going to be busy with 'Watchmen' coming out on Friday. Thank God I booked some holiday! Not looking forward to arguing with people who get the hump when we have to refuse entry because They haven't got ID as it's an 18. To be honest, I'm not that excited about it. I may watch it if I have time, but in between watching 'The Young Victoria' and writing my prequel to' The Poisoned Veil' for MinNoWriMo this month I don't know. It's been a long time since I've got really excited about any new releases.

Mad spamming of the thread (I'm sorry, but as long as no one minds too much...)
Watched a double bill of 'The Young Victoria' and 'The Reader' at work which was good as I was starting to get nagged that I hadn't watched any new releases for a while. 'The Young Victoria' was everything you expect a big romantic costume drama to be. I have a soft spot for that kind of film , so I enjoyed it. I think Rupert Friend did an OK job as Prince Albert. I may pop out to see it again.
The Reader was a good film , but very depressing. Perhaps I should have attempted to watch it first in the double bill, as frankly it sapped any feel good happiness I may have had from watching 'The Young Victoria'. I was also surprised at how much shagging there was in the film. Maybe I just didn't know much about the premise of the film.

I'm going to watch 'Becket' starring Peter O Toole as King Henry and Richard Burton as Thomas a Becket. Should be interesting.
The busy season is starting at work so I'm gearing up for that. 'Monsters vs Aliens' and 'The boat that Rocked are both coming out so I may watch those at some point.

Live to Win
So far, I've only seen three movies in theaters this year: Watchmen, Taken and Fast & Furious. Will be watching X-Men Origins: Wolverine later this week.
