The Official RC DIMMU BORGIR Thread

This thread is for praise, hate, love, disses of the mighty DIMMU BORGIR. (Obviously, I'm biased!) :loco:

Just purchased the latest, along with IRON MAIDEN today.

DEATH CULT ARMAGEDDON folks. Bow down and suck the goat of Satan!

Quick synopsis on first listen

Nick Barker does it once again.
Vortex' clean vocals sound great on the 2 songs they appear on.
Abbath of IMMORTAL appears on two tracks.
The Prague Philharmonic is awesome!
Another great job @ Studio Fredman.
Silenoz has written some really good lyrics.
It is the same lineup as last album, a very good sign.
There are 2 songs in their native tongue, I guess to please the tr00. :tickled:

The songwriting is very strong.

I am pleased and impressed.

Top 5 of 2003?

Perhaps.

I've always dug Enthrone Darkness Triumphant, and the only other one I have is Puritanical Euphoria Misanthropy Armegeddon Lucites (or whatever the fuck) and can't stand it. No more Dimmu for me unless I hear it first!

I bought Entrone Darkness Triumphant when it came out, didn't like it one bit, and haven't heard them since.

That's the one I bought, and I listened to it once, but I never went back to it. I can't remember whether I disliked it or not though.

I have too many CDs and not enough time. So I open this to the floor: should I give EDT another chance? :Spin:

You mean he's able to suck just as much as the other albums and Lock Up? That is amazing.

Once again, the band exploits their major weakness by regulating their strongest member to background duty. This band never ceases to amaze me with their shit decisions. Shagrath needs to get his head out of cloud 9 and remve his ego and let Simen take vocal duties permanently.

If you still have it, give it a spin. The third track is excellent, but other than that, prepare to be un-impressed. If you don't have it, spend your money on something you'll actually want to listen to a week later.

The first 4 tracks on EDT rock, the rest is cool but not incredible.

I always liked Nick Barker, except for the fact that he has the worst snare tone in the history of music.

The first two tracks on that release are fucking phenomenal. You need to get the latest and Puritanical though, if you want to hear an absolutely astonishing production!

I don't like Dimmu Borgir, so sue me.

The lawsuit papers are in the mail!

Besides, those two albums are soooooooo WEAK. It's like fairies and trolls, crap keyboard romanticism, more so than anything they've released since EDT.

But then again, I find Transylvanian Hunger to be the most overrated pile of wild boar dung in the Darkthrone discography, so what do I know?

"Stormblåst" rules. "Før All Tid" is nothing special, a bit heavy on the keyboards and light on songwriting, but anyway I'd much rather listen to that than the new stuff. "Raabjørn Speiler Draugheimens Skodde" is a very good song.

Yeah... Your point is? I'd much rather listen to that than 40 minutes of triggered blastbeats with Cradle of Filth style keyboards on top.
