Are bonus tracks appended to a concept album, destroying any mood set forth by the closing moments of the (proper) final track. WHY!?!?

Yeah, most bonus tracks completely destroy the mood of the album they are on. The only bonus track I can think of on any CD or vinyl that doesn't completely destroy the album is "A Fine Day to Die" on the re-issue of ITNE, but then of course that is ruined by the "Gypsy" cover.

Just set your CD player so it doesn't play the last tracks SILLY PANTS!!!
I usually try to hit the stop button, but oftentimes I'm driving or becoming enthralled with the music that I forget that those wicked evil bad boner tracks are up next.

I told you re-issues are bad.
Yeah... sometimes there's no choice though. :D

Very ture, but thanks to modern technology that can be prevented.

I also dislike demo versions of an album's tracks as bonus material.

Fear Factory - Demanufacture is the one that triggered this thread. A Therapy for Pain closes out so beautifully, and since I have the weak digipak version, that stupid Your Mistake song comes on and kills the album. D'oh I say, d'oh.

I'd buy Opeth's Orchid and Morningrise in vinyl-form, but those have bonus tracks and it destroys the original feeling. I hate that...

I got the digipak as well, and yeah the album is somewhat ruined by that song.

I think the worst example of duplicate tracks is my edition of Morbid Angel - Altars of Madness with a few "remastered" duplicates. They took 4 tracks and added reverb to the snare. THAT'S IT.

worst offender: Opeth - Orchid.

Opeths best album, one of the greatest albums ever, ends with the best Opeth song ever, perfect way to end and then.......

BAWHBUFABASBAB:ABABFBAUSBABABAB the shittiest sounding shit sound of shit sub-sub-sub-sub-sub par demo recording quality worth shit on that shitty piece of shit "Into The Frost Of Winter" wastes no time in destryoing your eardrums. Ditto for Morningrise, although i do think "Eternal Soul Torture" has its moments.

I'll tell you what's worse than bonus tracks - these fucking "tribute" CDs. I saw one the other day for The Darkness! I mean, I think the Darkness are entertaining, but THEY'VE GOT ONE FUCKING ALBUM, FOR GOD'S SAKE.
There's String Quartet Tribute To....CDs, Pickin' On....Tribute CDs, its just plain getting out of hand. I think its a way for out of work has been musicians to earn a Big Mac or something.

yeah, I had to get that Orchid release with that bonus track. It sucks.

Orchid>anything else Opeth have released or even contemplated

Hm, I find Morningrise to be the "patchy" one. SOme of the riffs rule, some blow. I can't, for the life of me, get into Still Life. It's too....."processed" or "fabricated" or something.
