Well I have "the package heard around the world" from Mr. Hawk. He sent me a very cool disc by Vision Divine. I had never heard this band and actually almost chalked them up as generic Euro power metal after the first track, but they got quite inventive after that one. Very very good disc. This band is extremely inventive and the vocalist has a very nice range.
I apologize for it taking so long, but I received two discs on the same day and both were from The Netherlands. I assumed both came from Runehammer who sent me a live Accept disc. In fact, I didn't even notice Hawk's note about the disc due to the mistake. Anyway, I did receive it about a week ago and in fact was going to post this last night, but after doind the "normal replies" on UM, I all of a sudden got so sleepy I couldn't hold my eyes open, though it wasn't that close to my bedtime. ; /

Now I need the following people's address: You can PM me with it...

Baldy
Wicked Child
Trix
Marine
Carnut

Cool to hear you like the disc. I had a hard time choosing band you might like. This letter has "seen" more of this world than most of us, I think :)

:edit:

That reminds me... It has not been to Australia...

No. I have send him the latest album. Stream of Consiousness! Great melodic and powerfull metal! The new singer is a real talent.

aahh I have the first one, I like Rhapsody so that's why I bought it but maybe I should check this one out as well
Yea please do I am curious what you think of it. This album is a little bit more progressive. They moved away from the Euro-power metal idiom and are a bit more experimental now. I hope you like it. Its a beautiful album though.

Sounds like a cool album :) If the loser record stores here ever bring it, I'll get it ;) BTW, I heard the new Rhapsody sounds horrible :(
I am enjoying it. They are really unique. It has a bunch of power metal influence in it, and prog influence in it. In fact, I would call it "prog" but it's not very "cookie-cutter" (basic/generic) at all. It's pretty different stuff.

Thats too bad really, seems they are losing their inspiration. They started out really promising.

My poor brain has a limit for my listening style of what I can tolerate. It will progress though. It progresses constantly.

"The package" was mailed out on Tuesday 6-15-04. I was going to mail it Monday, but it wouldn't play in my car. It played fine in my van though as I discovered Monday nigt. The CD player in my car is a real dinasour and will play some CDr and not some others, so I expect it will be fine for the next recipient.

I must probably be the only power metaller around who detest Rhapsody  Is interesting in the other board I attend I'm bashed all the time because I'm too much into European power metal. And here that many people like it I'll probably end bashed because I don't like Rhapsody (or Stratovarius, Sonata Arctica, Skylark, Shadows Of Steel, etc.) :D

I do like Luca Turiilli's solo albums (flower as can be) but because half Heavens Gate play on them and Heavens Gate are among my all-time fave power bands (sadly disbanded  ).

Yeah but you know, considering the kind of music they play, they really don't have "a lot of room" left to expand. Their 4 albums and the EP were great, but seems like now they're trying to top them no matter what, so they have a 9,000 piece orchestra and Christopher Lee as a narrator and whatnot and there's the risk of ending up with something that's just way too cheesy and over the top.

You know, that what I thought when I heard all of that. There seemed to be only one way to go; more, more, more.

And thats not a good way to go because then the music is not the primairy motive anymore.
