The 'Poems are shit' thread

To take rhyme out of poetry sounds all wrong
like taking the melody out of a song
or from a bell removing its gong
or from a heart the desire to belong

come on, girls fall for anything. even a little "you are the most beautiful thing i've ever seen" runs those hormones through their veins.

and if she likes you at first sight, then it's even EASIER. say something like "lets do something hot" and voila!

so mick, poems given to girls are USUALLY shit. dunc is right in his generalisation. :p

I wanted to highlight this one... it's just unimaginable no-one is replying ;)

And who are you to say? Poetry rules. Of course, good poetry. Guess you never read any Edgar Allan Poe or Dante... :bah:
If you don't like poetry, that's ok. But it's not ok to say it sucks.

i might say poems are shit too except for stuff like...

the road goes ever on and on
down from the door where it began
now far ahead the road has gone
and i will follow it if i can
puruing it with eager feet
until it joins some larger way
where many paths and errands meet
and whither then? i cannot say

Galadriel's Song of Eldamar

I sang of leaves, of leaves of gold, and leaves of gold there grew:
Of wind I sang, a wind there came and in the branches blew.
Beyond the Sun, beyond the Moon, the foam was on the Sea,
And by the strand of Ilmarin there grew a golden Tree.

Beneath the stars of Ever-eve in Eldamar it shone,
In Eldamar beside the walls of Elven Tirion.
There long the golden leaves have grown upon the branching years,
While here beyond the Sundering Seas now fall the Elven-tears.

O Lórien! The Winter comes, the bare and leafless Day;
The leaves are falling in the stream, the River flows away.
O Lórien! Too long I have dwelt upon this Hither Shore
And in a fading crown have twined the golden elanor.

But if of ships I now should sing, what ship would come to me,
What ship would bear me ever back across so wide a Sea?

now if it had a boss tune it wouldnt be a poem anymore. i wonder if roger waters reckons poems are shit. they may not change much in the grand scheme of things but even the beatles never managed that.
