The RC "TOP 10 METAL ALBUMS - Worship Or Face The Consequences" thread

Swans will probably grace my favorite of all time someday. They're like one of those bands that you don't even know you were looking for, but you can't understand how life existed without them.

i got some good ideas on what new stuff to look for from these lists ... my first tries will be:

Ulver - Bergtatt
Katatonia - Brave Murder Day

I don't like this thread. I can't rank stuff.

this is definately on it:

1. Burzum - Hvis Lyset Tar Oss

the rest, in no particular order

Agalloch - Pale Folklore
In The Woods - Heart of the Ages
Green Carnation - Journey to the End of the Night
Negurã Bunget - 'N Crugu Bradului/Maiastru Sfetnic
Katatonia - Brave Murder Day

ehhh... I can't think.

This list leaves out metal-ish groups like Alice in Chains, Kyuss, White Zombie, and others even though most rank higher than these albums. Also, only about half of these are 10/10 albums, I'm very picky in giving metal a perfect score.
Oh fuck it. I'm just going to liste all my metal-related albums that deserve a 10/10 score, and that's my top 10 (no matter how many I come up with):

Megadeth - Rust in Peace
Slayer - Seasons in the Abyss
Pantera - Far Beyond Driven
Morbid Angel - Domination
Jerry Cantrell - Degradation Trip vols. 1 & 2
Alice in Chains - Dirt
Nine Inch Nails - Broken EP (trust me, it's Very Fucking Metal)
Helmet - Meantime
White Zombie - Astro Creep: 2000
Tool - Undertow, ÆNIMA, and Lateralus
Hammers of Misfortune - The August Engine
Kayo Dot - Choirs of the Eye

12 albums, 1 double album, and one EP. Whee.

PS: None of this would exist without Black Sabbath. "You have our gratitude."

Fuck I fogot about Arcane Sun!
Fuuuuk I did too. That would probably be at number 4 for me, so I have no idea how I forgot it.

And Weiland certainly isn't metal guys.

I still get chills hearing one who road to Asa bay.
HEAVY UNDERSTATEMENT. This might be the best song ever, but as a full album I think Blood Fire Death is better but Bathory have too many 10/10 buy or fucking get executed by my aryan blade-releases for it to be fair.

I have a drunken write-up of that Pantera somewhere around here, in a thread that either Papa or Nate started I believe. The most aggressive and cathartic album I've ever heard. It rules so god damn much!

I would need to choose 10 from these: Impossible.

Black Sabbath - Sabbath Bloody Sabbath, Sabotage, Mob Rules
Judas Priest - Stained Class, Painkiller
Iron Maiden - The Number of The Beast, Piece of Mind, Powerslave, Seventh Son
Rainbow - Rising
Dio - Holy Diver
Ozzy - Diary of A Madman
Slayer - Reign In Blood
Testament - The Legacy
Megadeth - Rust In Peace
Kreator - Pleasure To Kill
Destruction - Infernal Overkill
Atheist - Unquestionable Presence
Morbid Angel - Altars of Madness
Amorphis - Elegy
At The Gates - Slaughter of The Soul
Opeth - Morningrise
Samael - Ceremony of Opposites
Dissection - Storm of The Light's Bane
Dark Tranquillity - The Gallery
Emperor - Anthems To The Welkin At Dusk
Pestilence - Consuming Impulse
Sepultura - Beneath The Remains
Carcass - Necroticism
Edge of Sanity - Crimson
Green Carnation - Light of Day

ok, I'll stop. Many more are worthy though..

Let's try this again:

1. Burzum - Hvis Lyset Tar Oss
2. Agalloch - Pale Folklore

the rest, in no particular order

In The Woods - Heart of the Ages
Negurã Bunget - 'N Crugu Bradului
Negurã Bunget - Maiastru Sfetnic
Katatonia - Brave Murder Day
Drudkh - Forgotten Legends
Hate Forest - Purity
My Dying Bride - Turn Loose The Swans
Taake - Nattestid Ser Porten Vid
Worship - Last Tape/Vinyl/CD Before Doomsday
Today Is The Day - Sadness Will Prevail (if you can consider it "metal" enough)

Hey I didn't say I didn't love it. :p

I was going to start a Top 10 ANY AND ALL GENRES thread, but haven't gotten around to sitting 'round my CDs and picking the Chosen Few.
